I'm assuming I'll be allowed to bring somethng ;)
Manfully going through what I have at home, with mixed fortunes.
Went white yesterday and had a Valmur Chablis, (J-C Bessin 2006).
It was just OK.
Will go back to top classe claret, while trying to avoid repetition (the Haut Brion's do taste nice though).
Where's Tobster on the 15th?
What time are we thinking - 1.00pm ish?
I'll sign your "absence from home sheets" if the good Ladies are provig difficult.
Why not bring them?
Loking forward to meeting you chaps, next chance for me will be Cambridge IV.
L.

weekends are always a challenge..

Santa tractor ride and swimming are taking up most of the day but will see if I can escape for (very) late afternoon if people think that drinking will still be going at about 6ish

Sorry guys the 15th is not going to work for us. My company Xmas do is the day before starting at lunchtime through till the early hours. Then the in-laws are coming for lunch on the Saturday (with my hang-over.) Then we disappear 48 hours late in a puff of smoke towards the Equator for Xmas.

Have a good session and please leave me same aged Cornas in the shop!

Okay ladies, given that kingkanu is out of the country, Toby is driving a tractor around Essex and kwaky has better things to do, then I'll crack on and book a table at 28-50 in Marylebone.

Lunch is served up to 2:30 on Saturday so I'll book the table for 1:30 - Dont be late!!!!! I'll be there earlier to get a running start.

Is it just The Colonel bringing a bottle? I think that would be decent - Khamen I think should be absolved of buying any wine (and his sins) seeing as he can't drink any of it.

I'll bring a special bottle that I've been meaning to drink for a while. 28-50 allow one bottle per two people so that should be fine, then we can pick out something fun from their list

Quick look of various hiding places turned up the following:

1982
Giscours
Lynch Bages
Palmer

1993
Cos d'Estourel

1995
Cos d'Estournel
Latour
Mouthon Rothschild

I am just a little hesitant with the 82's as they have accompanied me around the world (in fact they are the last of whole cases I have already consumed).

I could bring an '82 with one of the newer bottles as back-up.
Whatever you chaps decide.

Wow - I would love to try on of the Cos actually. The 95 firsts are pretty tight at the moment.

The Cos is 1996, not 1995, sorry (although they are similar quality, I also like the lesser rated 1993 of which I have a few ;)

A Cos with a Latour as back-up?

What say our Cambridge, Oxford beater!

Well I think we can safely say wait on the Latour. In terms of my preference I've not had either the Cos 1996 or the Mouton 1995 so they would be my choice. Did we have the three 82's at the Burg vs Bord??. I've had plenty of the 1993 Cos which is very good for the vintage (I had a Figeac 1993 on Monday which was very good).

I have a nice bottle of 1988 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Chianti Classico Riserva Rancia - which should be delicious as all the other 88 chianti's I've had have been lovely and this is up there with the best

Though now I have said that it will be corked

Okay - so Colonel and Gareth bag the two bottles - I'll prep the restaurant. I will show my face .... then they'll know who they are serving and I am sure they will be more lenient. As they said recently when I went in with Tobes "you guys are our favourite customers"

The '82's have the same provenance as some of my wines at the Bord. vs Burg. but are different (with the possible exception of the Palmer?).
We had the controversial Leoville Poyferre which I liked, but made the Burgers ill.  Not such a bad strategy

So currently I'm planning on the 1993 Cos d'Estournel, with the 1995 Mouton under the table for reserve ;)
I've drunk these both from my cupboard and they were very respectible.

L.

PS  Just found an old favourite - the Pichon Baron 2000 which I could substitute for one of the others?

excellent, the 1993 Cos and the 1995 Mouton sound like a good pair. And having a 1988 and 1993 should go well with some delicious steak

Colonel - from Waterloo take the Jubilee Line to Bond Street.

The place is about 10 mins walk from Bond Street station.

Just google maps for Marylebone Lane.

Glad you're packing up early today - plenty of time to get the uniform pressed and the boots polished.
Tonight will train with the gurhkas - Curry and Cobras.
Is Toby weakening
With a small quorum and Khamen taking it easy on the alcohol should be some large pours ;)

Table booked for 13:15 for 4 people under my name. I also request corkage for The Colonels wine. I had to make the booking on-line so did say that we would be hammering the Collectors List as well.

The Current Mrs Jaines tried to pull rank and insisted I took my child and three of his friends to the cinema at 11am on Saturday for a 2 hour film but I pretended I had not heard correctly and booked the tickets for Sunday instead. Woo-Hoo!

I am sure you'll sound wonderful on the Sunday gareth. I have an image of Serge Gainsbourg in my head.....

I'm pretty sure we'll get through a fair few wines. It is what the CT Forum expects.

It is really fun to read these threads and imagine it is the script for one of the video mock-ups.  Precisely on target.
