Last night with good old friends and potential new ones we drank good and average Spanish wines, talked about politics, (G)od, Islam, Palestine, the price of goods in Sainsbury's, and sang songs (after the ninth bottle).
There must be something wrong with us nothing bad happened and a great time was had by one and all.
I guess it all depends who you mix with.

Exactly, it all depends on the crowd. I recall discussing the same things (except the prices of goods) when I was in Tel-Aviv with my friends,
drinking nice Israeli wines, probably expressing the  opposite opinions and...a great time was had by one and all too!

It helps if you have met and supped with them before entering discussions that challenge individual beliefs versus holding these discussions with people you have never met and only know through their online personae.

Very true.  Most people think Serge is crazy.        Some of us know better.

Are you projecting, Rob?

I couldn't find ONE reference out there regarding my crazyness.
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&ie=UTF-8&rls=SUNA,SUNA:2007-12,SUNA:en&q=serge+birbrair+crazy

...unless of course you gonna pull on me:
"It all depends how you define "crazy" and "most".
Anyway, tell me who thinks I am crazy and I'll hop on the plane and cut their legs with rusty dull saw.
Please name as many as you can so I could save money on airline tickets and pacling it all in 1 trip.
I'll save XXX for last.
:)

Politics is fine face to face. On many Internet forums it is toxic.

true. My partner and me are on the opposite sides of the political spectrum. We "kill" each other on internet chat boards, and when we get together, we have great ime because...we either talk politics face to face or not talk it at all.
