Status: offline 		I just had to post this picture, which comes from Kentuckysportsradio.com. It was taken by incoming U.K. freshman basketball recruit Devin Booker. He's packing for school. Looks like he collects basketball shoes the way Ytsai collects Bordeaux. So, those of you who are cringing about your wine purchases and hanging around the Moratorium thread, take comfort. At least you have stuff you can drink......



And my wife complains about all the boots I buy (which amount to about 1 pair per year......)

I wondered that too. My wife reminded me that they are awarded as prizes to contestants at AAU tournaments (the athletic shoe companies sense endorsement value even among high-school athletes).

Status: offline 		They are allowed to accept sneakers and other apparel "donated" to the school to assist with uniform needs. Most schools have deals with the sports apparel companies where the company provides all uniforms, warm up gear, etc. for free but keeps their logo on it. As long as it's for use on the court/field or in direct relation to their participation in the sport it's not considered a violation of NCAA rules.

It's no different than a corporation buying the naming rights to a stadium or arena on a campus.
