Purchases up 50% on 2016 and cost per bottle down only 4%.. expensive year.
Purchases up 100% on 2015.
Consumption of cellar is almost nil as i live in a different country, I need to slow down. But very much looking forward to living at home, sometime in the next few years.

Buying about 3x consumption. I blame good years in Burgundy-2015, Bordeaux in 2016, and Barolo-2013. Also bought alot more Champagne.

Already planning to sell a bunch in 2018 and will probably buy minimum in the 3 B's.

Yeah, i have 100+ bottles of Sauternes laying around. Think i've consumed 3 bottles this year....you do the math.

Karl, my bestest CT buddy from Chicago! How many are 2003 and older?

Well, actually most of my Sauternes are from recent vintages, which i prefer anyways. Have been drinking down my 2003's & 2009's and now have loads of 2007, 2011, 2013 & 2014 with only a few bottles older than 2006

Good news: As planned, I drank more than I bought in 2017, reducing the cellar size.

Bad news: The drawdown was less than intended; I bought too much, perhaps not the only person on this forum who did so.๐Ÿ˜‰

Goal for 2018, drawdown twice as much as 2017. Actually, itโ€™s time to start a 2018 thread.

Reduced purchases by 140 over last year, but the cellar is still 250 over goal. So if I only buy 100 next year. I mostly drink OR PN now which leaves 2/3 of the cellar aging for the future. A serious discussion needs to happen on why I buy some of these expensive wines I seldom drink anymore. They do make well received gifts!

I've put off wine buying until Summer 2018, and I'm staying strong. In the end, to avoid temptation, I had to mark all the wine emails (including my broker), as Junk. LOL

Good strategy.

So far I've resisted temptation to make a sizable purchase which would bring my cellar beyond 500 bottles.
That hasn't stopped me from replacing what I drink, and creeping closer to the limit each time.
Reducing the # of bottles purchased per unit time has allowed me to increase the cost per bottle though.
So in Q4 I've been regularly picking up one or two each of a variety of 2010 and 2014 lesser classified growths which have great CT reviews but reasonable price tags.
