I just finished entering the data in this thread into an elaborate spreadsheet only to see a strong clue a few posts up...

Hahahahaha!

I didn't think it was possible to surpass your masterpiece of simplistic yet genius humor earlier, but you've done it!

Why yes I am sir. Thank you for the lovely gift.

Regarding the wine that I sent you... I am afraid that your offsite team has misidentified the contents of the package. Once again I reused some packing that I had laying around and so while the box within the box was an old Cayuse magnum crate the bottle inside is not.

I actually gifted you a bottle of 2008 Cayuse Armada. It was my last bottle of it. I drank the penultimate bottle on August 25th of this year after one of my last visits with my mom. The wine was divine as was the time spent thinking about my mom and life in general. For me it was a wonderful experience and a wonderful wine, so much so that I wanted the experience to stand on its own and decided to gift the last bottle.

I hope you enjoy it. A merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you.

Thanks,
Matt

OK, I'll swing again...MQVN, are you my Santa?

Yes, I am your Secret Santa! I happen to love Produttori, and I buy most of those bottles from Vinopolis (great pricing on lots of their Italians), and seeing you were in Hood River made it an easy shop to go to in order to ship the wine. I hope you enjoy your gift!

Hi Michael, thanks so much for the gift! I am very inexperienced with Italian wines and love getting to explore Barbaresco. Now the dilemma of letting it age a bit into its crazy drinking window?

Cheers!

You're welcome! I've opened a different riserva bottling from this vintage in the past and it has done well with a decant, but yes, I expect it would be even better with more time. In general, I am a huge fan of the Produttori wines, so enjoy!

Thanks for the kudos Jeff, Don, and Dennis!

I think that does it. Since, as devious as we elves are, we did not have someone ship to themselves. Remaining thanks and acknowledgements withstanding...

Final Matches:

Rossodio - match from Santa Hollowine
mgriffith - match from Santa Rossodio

Thanks as always for the fun, active posting and sleuthing, hints where needed, etc... Not to mention the totally KICK ASS wines that were shared across the country and our community!

Also my pleasure to serve as HEIC for the GOOD SANTAS!

Happy Holidays Everyone and Cheers!

I am certainly biased, but this Chris in the middle, ern1 has my vote for the best gift of 2017, well done, sir.

And well as the best receipt/delivery of a gift, thanks to dontime.

A lot of guessing and dumb luck in my selection 🤔 Dontime knew exactly what he was doing! Can't wait to try our wine.

Drinking my Secret Santa gift now -- the Delas Hermitage Les Tourettes. For some reason it is making me spew out curses left and right..... Sorry, I could not resist. This is really delicious. Exactly what I wanted -- a really good French syrah so I can start to compare to the WA ones with which I am so much more familiar. This is young (2013) but really delicious. Strong black pepper, blood, and lovely fruits. It is much tighter and more compact than the WA versions with which I am more familiar (in a good way). Will post a tasting note later, once it is all gone! Right now I am really loving it. Thanks crispino!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who also thought of that about the Tourettes.

So glad you enjoyed it Ron! Like I said I really like your idea of comparing the wines, so I'm glad it was a good experience for you.

I still have yet to find the opportunity to open my bottle of Ruffino, but I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks again Jack!

- Chris
