Is there a difference?  I bought a split of the 2000 and the label says "Taylor's," not "Taylor-Fladgate."  Is it a different wine?  Even the Taylor website doesn't seem to clarify matters.  Thanks for any help.

It is the same juice, and "Taylor's" is the worldwide name. However, there is a Taylor Winery in the US, so they are forced to import as "Taylor Fladgate". I'm getting ready to make a change on the site to merge them all together and call the producer "Taylor (Fladgate)".

I'm not sure if you would want to make a similar merge with respect to wines (as opposed to wineries) that are named differently in different markets. However, I know that the series of Wolf Blass wines that are labelled as "President's Selection" in most of the world, are in Canada (only) labelled as "Premium Selection" because of  a line of food products that has the pre-existing Canadian trademark of "President's Choice". I understand the wines are exactly the same.

Thanks for clarifying that.  And I can see how this issue might be a real bugger as the database grows.  I'd imagine, as bgibbard mentioned, there are probably many such instances around the world.  Good luck with that one Eric!

There haven't been TOO many of these yet. The Taylor one is likely the most high profile of them, and the piece of data is often interesting to collectors. Anyway, now that I added per-bottle notes about 6 weeks ago, the way is clear for me to pave over this. The problem is that some people actually have wines from both producers, so my thought in the conflicting cases is to add notes to the specific bottles before I merge the wines. Maybe that will be a nice little coding project for me to tackle this weekend and merge these once and for all...
