Patience ran out. I popped a bottle last week. Following is the note I posted to CT:

Curiosity finally got the better of me on this, and I opened a bottle. PnP, consumed over three nights. Clearly too young right now, this showed best on night three. Too tight on PnP, after about an hour of air it started to open up.

What came to mind as I was sipping this is Indian food. Not because the spices and notes on the nose and palate are evocative of bharta or roganjosh, but rather that the best Indian food combines different elements to arrive at a richly complex dish with a deepness to the flavors. I felt that the blend here, from across a broad lineup of Bordeaux and Rhone varieties, has achieved that effect; a balancing act that unexpectedly--or perhaps expectedly, given Rasa's track record of great winemaking--creates a harmonious wine with a unique, enjoyable complexity.

Ridiculous QPR, and so glad that I upped my order to a case of this. It will definitely be fun to watch this evolve over the next 5-10 years, when I think it will be in its real sweet spot.

Thanks for the tasting note. I've been holding off on popping my first to let it settle a few weeks and now waiting for the right time. Do you think this would go well with Indian food like a mild-medium curry dish?

I originally bought the case thinking I would give some to my kids but now not so sure so bought a case of the '17 Occam's Razor at an incredibly ridiculous price of $12@ for what must be at least a >100% QPR.

Personally, I'm not generally a fan of red wine with Indian food, and I don't know that I'd recommend this wine with it, either. The comparison was more a reaction to the complexity and depth gained from disparate ingredients, not a recommended pairing.

Oh, I drink red wine with Indian food and Mexican food for sure, depending on the dish, as long as it's warm and mild-medium spicy. Opened up my first Rasa FR tonight with a chicken marsala in fact and the wine was good on it's own and went well with the dish. I think since the fruits are subdued at the moment and there's some good acidity.

I love Indian food, but have never been able to find a red that works. My go to is a good Riesling. Bear in mind that I take my Vindaloo at the spiciest level available. As well as most other curry dishes.

We visited good friends for lunch last week and they served this wine ('19 Rasa Pinot Gris) with a chilled shrimp salad. Was fabbo!

WHOA! Private Label Founder's Blend II was announced today! The first Founder's Blend was, indeed, a massive QPR winner and I've only got four bottles left from that. Count me in for another case. Thanks Rasa! Woof.

It didn't take long to order a case. While my drinking is down, gifting and trading for food is up. Under $20 fits all categories to a T.

Well, believe I snuck in under the wire & got a 6-pack ordered.

Too good to pass up such a good deal on what will no doubt be a great wine.

I told my wife about this and said I was probably going to buy a case. She said buy 3! Done.

Here's our custom label for Founder's Reserve I. We recently discovered an old mine shaft on some property we own in the Colorado mountains:

Got mine Wednesday about 7:30 PM via UPS using a Budget Rental Cargo Truck. Delivery window was 8:45-AM-1PM, For six hours the UPS map showed the truck under a mile from me, then almost in the next county near the UPS hub. Turns out the trucks scanner device had gotten flooded out (rain), then the driver couldn't find my package until she'd emptied most of the cargo van. Home delivery from FEDEX, UPS, USPS and Amazon isn't doing well these days.

Received ours on 22 September.

Now I need to design a custom label for both of the bottling.

We have yet to finalize the blend, but more than likely it will have Bordeaux and Rhone varieties. CS and Syrah will make up at least 50% of the blend, with Merlot, Grenache, CF, and PV making up the rest. It will go through a very rigorous blending cycle (usually 80-100 different blends) and we will come up with something that is very tasty and overdelivers for the price point.

The vineyards for the various fruit include Kiona, XL, Firethorn, DuBrul, Bacchus, Dionysus, Weinbau.

FYI, this wine will have a very simple back label. This basically fulfills the labeling requirements for the TTB. You can put any front label on it that you wish.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Thank you!
-Billo

I just had my first bottle of this and have to say that it’s probably the best $16.67 I’ve ever spent on wine. :)

It is still very young and bound up but with 12+ hours to breathe it starts to really show what a nice wine it is and will be. I didn’t write a TN so I just wanted to bring it up here to our posse. If you’re sitting on a case and haven’t tried it yet, it’s worth a long decant and a good piece of broiled cow or young sheep.
