I haven’t tried either in 2017. 2017 was a vintage with heat spikes (which can leave the grapes a bit shriveled and yet green), followed by the first of massive fires (top places discard tainted fruit, and even fruit where there was no evident taint yet some risk, but this drove down the quantities harvested, and blends may not be completely typical because this forces the winemaker to use fruit they brought in early). You need to purchase rather carefully. From what I’ve read, Dominus harvested early and apparently made one of the best wines from the vintage. Chappellet isn’t rated even close to the same level in 2017. Given the pricing, go for Dominus, but plan to age it for a few years before trying it. It will need a long decant when you do open a bottle.
