See: Taylor Vintage Port

The two wineries are the same, obviously, and the 1st & third wines are the same... Only difference is presence of "Fladgate" or lack thereof in the name.

Which to use is perhaps an issue for Port-Meister Roy... hope it's not one of those that varies over the years (though the fact that there could be multiple bottlers in London back in the day I'm sure complicates things).

Sorry I can't provide anything more definite on this. Hope someone can (Roy?)!!

Cheers,
Dave

Eric has this one in his sights to sort out. If I have this correctly, the problem is that everywhere but the US, it is simply Taylor. That name was already in use commercially in the US, so it became Taylor-Fladgate.

Thanks for your patience,

A.

Yes, I am going to merge these up later tonight along with a note to this effect:

Taylor, Fladgate and Yeatman produce a series of famous, world-leading Ports that are marketed under the "Taylor" name. Alas, in the United States there was already a winery with that name, so in the US only, the Ports are referred to as "Taylor Fladgate".

This duplication is problematic, since the juice is the same stuff. So when user or professional reviewer comments on the wine, only half of the CellarTracker users are seeing that. To simplify things we have merged all of these wines under a single producer entitled "Taylor (Fladgate)".

I also went further and ran queries to find about 3 dozen users who had holdings under BOTH producers. For these users, the specific bottles and pending purchases have been tagged with a note showing the name of the former producer. This is a valuable distinction for some users, since a US user purchasing a UK-bottled Port would see the Taylor brand, a valuable distinction. Going forward we ask any users who feel strongly to use per-bottle notes to distinguish the importing source and specific brand.

I should have this done in about 3-4 hours. (I just landed in Tel Aviv after 10 hours of flying but happened to write the code for this one on the plane. )
