Well...this is awkward...

It's been about 6 years since my last post here in CT world. I've had two kids graduate from college, one get married, another one in college and a final one with her eye on the exit.

Still married, playing more golf and increasingly a hummingbird aficionado.

Oh yeah...and I moved to Park City, UT. Otherwise known as wine-death-valley. (as far as shipping is concerned)

...and then there was that covid thing...

I hope you old timers are well and hello to anyone new who is now probably an old timer since I was last here.

Heading to Napa this June to pick up my 2019 vintage. I've now wrangled my way over to sourcing grapes from Stagecoach Vineyard on the Pritchard Hill side and am also producing a GSM as well.

With all the ups and downs I thought I'd ping the group for a new "MUST" dine destination in Napa and any new winery or wine maker I should check out.

I'll also be picking up the following:

Carter Cellars
Myriad
Fisher Coach Insignia
Palmaz

started a strong move toward just my Napa go to's and am focused on Northwest Syrah's and Pinot's as well as CDP's.

and of course...if you check out my cellar list...it's a disaster and collecting cobwebs

Cheers to everyone!

Welcome back, Mike. It's still the same old cozy and slightly irreverent place its always been.

Cheers!

Hi there! You took your hiatus just before I joined, so I guess I should say it's nice to virtually meet you.

What he said.

Concerning dining I've heard Single Thread in Healdsburg is really good. I have not been there myself...yet.

For those who were there...here is a reminder of how young you were at our Epic Austin gathering back in the day!

Young people drinking wine

If the image doesn't show someone can tell me how to do it...I've forgotten after all these years!

I would try the Gatehouse Restaurant at the Culinary Institute in the north part of St. Helena.
They split the graduating class - 1st semester, half of the class are front of house, half are in the kitchen, 2nd semester they switch.
You don't want to go during the first few weeks of semester as it's all new to them, but otherwise the food is great, you can buy or take your own wine, and the students are very keen and interested and interesting. We have been several times and would absolutely go anytime we are in Napa/Sonoma.

That photo makes me smile and sad at the same time. I remember that evening barely. But sadly two of that group have passed since then.
