Hi Andy, My wife and I just returned from Germany six weeks ago. While there we spent two days tasting in Mosel/Saar/Ruwer and a day in Pfalz. Our tour guide was Carl Wiesner from Weinkopfe Grape Escapes. As a guide, he is very knowledgable about the area, personally knows many of the winemakers and tasting room personnel, and has wine knowledge. He also "gets it" as a person in the service industry (maybe because he is a native Australian). But he is pricy. He can be reached at hello@weinkoepfe.com. A few years ago, We spent a couple days tasting in Mosel with a guide named Kai Teggeman. He was also very good, but a bit more reserved. I can't remember his rates. His contact info is welcome@riesling-shuttle.de. We had another wine tour guide in the area several years ago, but I would not recommend him. I speak just a little German, so having an easy-to-understand-in-English guide is important to me. I also appreciate a guide with genuine wine knowledge. Both the people I mentioned above have that. I also have their cell #s. PM me if you would like that info or if you have any questions.
