Any plans?

Ours will be a Disco themed New Year's Eve gathering at Nomad (formerly 617), our local farm to table restaurant. Pot luck, white elephant, and BYOB. We are taking Block wine Farmhouse Rose sparkler from Full Pull, https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=4512736 and Orr Chenin Blanc https://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=4552668. This is second year for this event and it was fun last year, expecting the same tonight, in a larger venue, and maybe even a beer or two on draft. The restaurant serves a couple all the time, not sure about this party. I will ask. :)

So what are you doing?

House party, maybe 8-10, same as years gone by. Potluck, bringing asparagus white bean tart and homemade marron glacé. Abacela Tempranillo Reserve 2017. All good. Tomorrow I’m making black eyed peas, collard greens and a ham hock for brunch.

Got home from work by 7:00 PM. Locked the door after entering the house, and we have no plans to venture out on Amateur Night. Besides, we're old and have to work tomorrow so we don't want any risk of hangovers.

Normally we host a wine dinner on NYE. Nothing this year for various reasons. Opened up a 2015 Lamarche Passetoutgrains with some rib eye for dinner and a 1/2 bottle of NV Laurent Perrier at Midnight. Hope everyone hasa great NY!

The Passatoutgrains was quite good, but very young and could use another 5 years (but I say this about everything).

Ended up in Minneapolis area for a friends NYs party. Over the course of the holiday opened a 2013 Haut Brion and a Bouchard Le Corton plus some other wines (Bordeaux blanc, 2000 Dauzac etc) There was a light dusting of snow NYs eve so everything felt a little more festive and the company was great.
