I only just became aware that we have the ability to write articles about wineries and wines (link for details). I'm curious to know who has been doing this and what your criteria is for writing one. What sorts of things do you think of as "article content" as distinct from "TN content"? And what should we avoid when writing an article? Presumably we aren't supposed to write that "so-and-so is a surly SOB who couldn't give a damn about his customers..."

Feature's been around since 2007. Lol

I have noticed the links but haven't really clicked on any of them until now.

Edit:
I clicked one of my Diamond Creek bottles. Under CellarTracker articles, there are links to the Diamond Creek's website and a couple of blogs - someone's visit with pictures and a 2015 release tasting. Meh. I don't know these people. If I knew them, it would be a bit more interesting.

I am still waiting for a way to easily find people whom I share similar tastes. In other words, create a CT algorithm based on a set of questions to identify if the person prefers Old World versus New World, prefers old leather versus cherry liqueur, etc.

The best advice I can give on writing articles is....

1) Try to stay away from telling the story in the first person. Too many sentences starting with "I" turn readers off.
2) It's okay to express your opinion, but keep it as neutral as possible when doing so because too many people are looking for arguments nowadays (unless you're taking the Radio Shock Jock approach).
3) Interesting facts and anecdotes thrown in keep reader's attention.
4) Breaking up the text with a picture or two helps (although this might not be feasible on CT)
5) Use plenty of synonyms as repetitive wording gets boring.

PDC versus AFWE!

I use the article section to post info from the winemaker or winery website. In fact, here's one I added this morning

@Fingers, not accessible yet. I suppose Eric moderates them before they go public.

@Cran, thanks, good advice!

You are looking to reach some sort of consensus as what would be a "Cellartracker article", as opposed to whatever the producer writes himself, or a condensation of TN's or - as you mention - a cellar door experience 9 years ago?
But still distinguish it from, say, the Wikipedia article on said producer (or appellation or...)?
