ORIGINAL: KPB Interesting that quite a few of us own a fair number of “those” bottles, but rarely post about them. Unfortunately all of my Promontory & Scarecrow are too young to enjoy now, knowing their potential at 10+ years. I also wish the community of folks who invest in these wines would be open to discussing them more. Interestingly, I was at Promontory in March and they poured the 2011 for us. I was actually very impressed. It was a terrible vintage for Napa, but Promontory made a wine that still feels young and vibrant. There was ripe fruit, but the wine felt more like an old world style Bordeaux than Napa. I wanted to try the 2020, but the weren’t pouring it. We had ‘11 and ‘21 and ‘18 Penultimate. Speaking of 3 packs, Promontory was happy to sell me singles of Penultimate. I have an ‘18 and ‘19. Vice Versa let me do the same with The Magnificent Seven. Sometimes you just have to ask about buying a single bottle. Doesn’t work with everyone, but it works with some.
