Status: offline 		Well, with our impending return of winter I decided to bring back inside my stone Gargoyle and place it in it's proper place, which is on top of my Eurocave (next to the bats hanging from the ceiling). It protects my Eurocave from evil spirits or something similar(Cranburgundy).

It just had me thinking that others might have some silly decorations or junk that just somehow seems at home amongst the booze. I probably have some strange wine as well.

Status: offline 		Sometime we have kimchi or sauerkraut aging in the cellar. We also have had a couple types of milk liquor aging in their as well.

Hey now, gargoyles are friendly to hybrids like myself.

My wife has a small cabinet in the cellar with pie filling (cherry and pumpkin). She doesn’t remember it’s there so I open a can on a rare occasion and have at it with a big spoon.

I also have a pretty large seashell collection down there also.

Status: offline 		Has nothing to do with my cellar but reminded me of one of the strangest things I have ever done in my life and since I am happy and drunk ( Monterrey won against Messi Miami 2-1 today) well here it goes.

So, a few years ago I was flying in my airplane from McAllen Texas to Monterrey. Every time we fly to USA when we return we go thru customs as many other countries do. The problem is that customs had become a HUGE problem in the private terminal and the government officials became quite hostile and very unfriendly. We had to put in the x rays even the wine bottles, beer , and food for the dog. Yes, even that. We were all protesting and well...government in Mexico is kind of absurd in some ways.

Ok....soooo, since we had to put everything in the x ray thing and walk about 100 meters from where you park the plane and then go to customs and all that , well so I ordered to my office in McAllen an inflatable doll, those that are well....lets say "sexy". I invited a marsupial to come with me to McAllen and when we came back I inflated the doll as soon as we landed with a battery inflator. We turned the engine off and got of the plane with the real size doll walking toward customs and immigration. I put the doll into the x ray machine with the eyes of many government officials looking in disbelief what they were watching.

This was the first time ( and last ) that I saw them with a grin on their face and can only imagine what happened after we left carrying that doll again to the plane to go to the hangar.

This was maybe 6 or 7 years ago and many remember this prank as the best they have ever heard or witnessed in the Aeropuerto del norte .

Status: offline 		Mere de vinaigre gifted to me by my now 98 year old retired wine merchant in the 1970s from a starter grown by his dregs collecting vinegar making neighbor - 54 years tended by me add 10 -20 years for neighbor. My attempted gifts are routinely rejected. Over time, the "mother" becomes a large blob resembling a liver. When I require a transplant, hoping for DNA research will fulfill its mission.

Status: offline 		When I married Bob he had this small metal frog sculpture mounted on a wood block that he bought at a Renaissance fair. It's a brillian little piece but not the kind of thing I like for household decor, so when it became detached from it's wood block I drilled a hole in the wood that makes our cellar stackers and stuck him in sideways between Washington Cabs and Italy, where he has happily guarded over our cellar since. On one wall is a framed wine label from the bottle of white burgundy we shared at a 1986 dinner at Yves St. Laurent's Paris restaurant. The somm removed and preserved it for us, unasked. Fitting, as it's THE wine that shocked me into realizing that there's a very interesting world beyond cheap California chardonnay. On the same wall is a sign that reads Keep Calm and Drink Wine and below that hangs a coffee mug with Wine Queen on it, both long-ago gifts. Hanging from the neck of a bottle over in the Bordeaux section is piece of Seahawks merch--a silver beaded necklace with a giant '12' hanging from it. I have NO idea where I got that or why I kept it, but there it is.

Foodwise there's a whole Spanish ham leg in there that I've had for about two years. This weekend it meets its fate.

Clearly whoever had that sign made didn't have any Madeira, which should be kept standing up.
