2004 is a wonderful vintage for Brunello. I've tried several, including a few on that list, and they've all been terrific. In general, wines from the southern portion of the region (which is most of them, by the way) will be a bit more fruit-forward and will be drinkable sooner. The northern wines tend to be a bit leaner and greener in the early years, but they have the acidity to age a long time. They're all wonderful, though, and personally I think they represent one of the best value wines around, even at US $50-75/bottle. The quality is there. The Rossos, in my opinion, don't hold a candle to the Brunellos. edit - I should point out that I am a real sucker for mouthfeel. I love, love, love smooth silky sexy wines. Brunello has it all goin' on in this department.
