Eric -> Galloni Vinous and Tanzer IWC (2/23/2015 2:55:24 AM)

FYI, I have just completed the full re-brand of all of the legacy content from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar. These reviews are now all available under Antonio Galloni's Vinous channel. Reflecting the broader nature of Vinous, the initials used next to these scores throughout the site are now VM instead of AG.

Historically, one of the benefits accorded to voluntary paying members of CellarTracker was the ability to see scores (but not review text) from the IWC. That benefit does not carry over to Vinous. To see Vinous content, as with most other professional publications on CellarTracker, you must be a paying subscriber of Vinous. However, I will be following up soon with all currently paying CellarTracker members with a special offer from Vinous. So keep an eye on your email (and make sure you don't block emails from us or you lose).

Hi Eric,
Just paid up for another year - did I miss the special offer?

Thanks,
DK

Nothing announced yet.

OK, I am pleased to say that I have worked with Antonio to create a free, two-month trial to the full Vinous Media service, along with full (and automatic) CellarTracker integration.

Paying CellarTracker users who subscribed to CellarTracker before we made the switchover on February 23rd are eligible if you do not already subscribe to Vinous. If you are eligible, you will see a link here: https://www.cellartracker.com/getcontent.asp?FF=1

We just turned this on last night. We are going to let this sit quietly for a few days in case any technical hiccups appear (so far several people have turned it on successfully), and next week I am planning to email all eligible users.

Despite the fact that CellarTracker really introduced the concept of free, community reviews, I have always been a strong proponent of the value of paid subscriptions to professional reviewers and view that has highly complementary to the community. The real value of course is not in the simple scores but in the text and background. Vinous in particular is also loaded with lots of video interviews, so I hope that people take a close look.

Eric, I subscribe to Parker which you don't link to. I too believe that pro reviews are worthwhile. I there a reason you don't link Parker and if that's not going to change, perhaps a recommendation to one of the other services and I'll switch.

Thanks,
Michael

We've tried to work on integrations with Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator, but neither has had any interest in working with us. As a subscriber you're certainly welcome to share your feedback with them about what you'd like to see out of your subscription.

Vinous is probably the broadest publication that we integrate with, though depending on what you like to drink some of the other publications may also be good fit for you.

Dan

Thanks Dan, I'll give it a try. I'll let Parker know but not sure how much weight that will carry. Happy New Year and keep up the great work.

Michael
