Using Dymo 30336 labels.
The labels that are 8+ years old are fading away. Some are now unreadable.
Wine is stored in an EuroCave at 55 degrees and 65 percent humidity.
Dymo customer service person said that their labels are not designed for this type of use.
Has any one had else this problem?
Would placing clear tape over the label protect it from the humidity?

They are mostly right about the life of the ink on the labels. Covering with clear tape will preserve them for the foreseeable future.

Sounds like you need to drink up!

I'm curious. What is the function/purpose of the Dymo labels?

Dymo labels are stickers that you put information on, which gets printed thermally onto the sticker.

Key word: thermal.

Ever leave a dry cleaning ticket that or credit card receipt that was printed thermally in your car during extreme temperatures? The printing magically vanishes! Labels printed with actual ink would not have this issue.

You can create your own personalized labels linked directly to CellarTracker inventory to scan bottles in and out of your inventory. I'm not that organized, but the concept always intrigued me to make record keeping and auditing quicker.

Oh, of course. This is the barcoding feature that I've seen in CT. Well, duh.

Thank you, Chris.

I have printed more than 10,000 labels coming from rolls of 300-500 labels. Exactly one roll has faded for me, and all of the labels from that roll faded. The surface of those labels, even when new, felt a little rough and less polished, different from every other roll.

So for me, in 14 years, nearly all of them have held up perfectly.
