Hot Toddy with 21-yr Whisky. Yummy. Too lazy to open a new bottle of bourbon. Woke up today with flu-like symptoms.

My wife recently discovered Duke's Cosmo. I think she has the recipe from Ina Garten. I don't find it all that special but I did enjoy a Grand Chocolate Martini the other night, made with Godiva Dark Chocolate Liqueur and Grand Marnier.

Lately I’ve been enjoying a drink called a revolver. Michter’s bourbon, St. George’s NOLA coffee liqueur, and some orange bitters. Tasty. For a lighter drink, my go-to is Jensen’s Old Tom Gin with lime and club soda. Much less sweet than a G&T and quite refreshing.

My new favorite A "Loch Mess" 2 parts bourbon 1 part scotch 1 part Drambuie 1/2 part red vermouth bitters shake with rocks and pour

I do a speciality cocktail menu every year for the holidays, and always have a lot of fun with it. Here was this year's menu: Downeaster 4 ounces Bluet sparkling blueberry wine 2 ounces Cocchi Americano 1 ounce grapefruit juice Served in a tall glass over ice Vesper (The original James Bond martini) 1 ½ ounces gin ½ ounce vodka ¼ ounce Cocchi Americano Shaken (not stirred), strained, and served neat Instant Zen 1 Poblano chili muddled with ½ oz honey 1½ ounces rye ½ ounce absinthe ½ ounce lemon juice ½ ounce lime juice Shake, strained, and served over ice New England Christmas Cocktail 2 sage leaves muddled with ¼ oz maple syrup 2 ounces bourbon 1 ounce apple cider ¼ ounce apple cider vinegar Shaken, strained, and served over ice Cinnamon Apple White Russian 2 ounces Infuse Cinnamon Apple Vodka 1 ounce Kahlua Cinnamon Spice 1 ounce half and half 1 ounce brown sugar simple syrup Shaken, strained, and served over ice

....although, now I see (after checking the "Bourbon" thread) that you DO drink spirits, but just straight-up. That makes a little more sense. Why no cocktails? Feel like they're a good waste of good booze?

I will sometimes add a little bit of water or an ice-cube to cask-strength spirits....but not always. And although I do drink some Bourbon, my usual spirits of choice are the peaty, smoky Islay single malts, which don't mix well anyway.

I am usually a fan of Hendricks for gin, but given the various flavors at play here, I used Tanqueray as I think it is may be closer to the "London Dry" style of gin 007 was ordering when he ordered Gordon's. Bombay Sapphire should be similar as well. For Vodka, I used Titos, which is kind of our house vodka (AKA my wife's preferred brand). I would argue the type of gin should make more of a difference than the type of Vodka, but again, I have not run an extensive tasting on this so can't say for sure!

recotte, I made one Vesper with Plymouth Navy Strength gin and I really didn't like it. The last one was with Bombay Sapphire and it was better. MaineMark - I'm going to have to find some Cocche Americano and see if it's better than with Lillet BLanc. Your info is very helpful...I stupidly assumed Kina Lillet was the same as Lillet Blanc. Now I know!

Made this punch for a party recently. It was better received than I thought, got my neighborhood pleasantly sloshy. Super easy "bottle dumper" too, 30 seconds to do the whole batch. Pour onto large icecubes in a punchbowl: 1 part (aka 750ml bottle) Silver Tequila 1 part (unfortunately named) Triple X Fusion mango / passion fruit / blood orange liqueur 1 part cranberry juice 1 part pomegranate juice Float some lime rings

I've had a couple of bottles of Roku. Paired up with Fever Tree, the distinctive yuzu citrus notes of the gin make for a fine G&T.

For a pre dinner cocktail I would say G&Ts with anything from Tanqueray to Dingle (Irish) gin, but always with Fever Tree tonics. After dinner I have been moving more and more towards Whiskeys typically with a single small ice cube, bourbon is kept in the cellar to keep it on the cool side to start with.

My post-prandial drinks of late (when not wine) have tended to be either (decaf) Irish Coffee, or a caipirinha if feeling the need for something a little sweeter.
