I'd also like to put in a request for the following Grassl stems:

2 Cru
2 1855

Thanks for helping to organize

As Franklin stated, he and I are planning to partner up since we are both flying solo. Can't think of a better Elwood to my Jake

We haven't had much chance to coordinate, but we're planning on talking this weekend. We will make sure we appropriately represent whatever the hell it is we purport to represent...

I did allude to S1 that I bit on a JJB Private client offer this morning, so I can declare I'll be bringing a Magnum of 2009 Cristal Champagne.

I had also offered up a wine that I had declared for the cancelled 2020 event, a Magnum of 1974 Charles Krug Winery (Peter Mondavi Family) Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage Selection

Stay tuned...

Yes, the Blues Brothers will be back together this fall! I'm picking up Jake in a used police cruiser and we'll be getting the rest of the band together to save Charleston VI.

We've already got both kinds of adult beverages: bubbly and still (a magnum of 2009 Cristal and a pair of 1996 Pichon Lalande). More hits to come...

So another offering and suggestion for consideration...

Offering: 1946 Bodegas Toro Albala Don PX Convento Selección (An amazingly complex PX Sherry)

Suggestion: Not sure if Circa could do a 6th course or not, but I noticed they have Foie Gras and I'd suggest doing a Foie Course as #1 or #2 with the d'Yquem. If he won't go over 5 courses then d’Yquem could partner with the Champagne. We could then do the Sherry, maybe something else with the last course. (It's amazing on Vanilla Bean Ice Cream too...)

Our deal with chef is for five courses.
Maybe Sunday.

No worries on the five courses. Still tabling for consideration a suggestion of Sauternes/Champagne for the first course if Chef may go Foie. Right now we have three of the five courses hitting on Champagne, White, and Sauternes, so tabling the idea of combining Champagne and Sauternes so we can have three courses with Reds as I'm sure there are some great wines coming.

We’re drinking almost exclusively red wines Thu, Fri, and Sun.
Let’s stick with these themes for Circa—better for Chef’s cuisine.

More Grassls on the way.
Steve-o says that we’ll settle up in Nov.

Btw I’ve already started sourcing some possibilities for Chas VII

Edmunds Oast is possibility for Bordeaux night.
I’m “checking it out.”

Thanks for the time/effort you are putting into this, S1. Edmunds Oast looks promising.

I see the executive chef is named Cook. With a private event space called the Library, it could also have a game of Clue theme: "Mr. Cook in the library with a corkscrew".

Ok - for '96 Bordeaux I think we're going to do both Montrose and Palmer. Two of our favorites.

ALTHOUGH - as those who were in Tampa a few years will remember (the Bern's ex-somm shared when we were doing dinner at Mise en Place and he was describing the wines), Palmer is a THIRD growth so slightly outside of the theme.

(we like it anyway)

Those wines make me even more eager as they are wonderful contrasts to the Cos (St Estephe) and Ch Margaux.
I have had a few Montrose over the past yr or 2 but sadly, besides the 82/83', no Palmer. If we can taste this beauties side by side it could be very enlightening as to the promise of the 96 vintage osutside of Paulliac. 95/96 could be spectacular in Margaux.

Margaux region had many 2nds like the Rauzans, Lascombe, Brane-Cantenac that I tasted from 83/85/86 and 90/96..., but to me, the Palmer is best in a good vintage and submlime in certain years. Likewise the Montrose from 89/90 blew me away and ranks up there with some of the greatest Bordeaux.

I have been scouring auctions trying to find something interesting in the 1996 Bordeaux and 2001 Burgundy categories The only item I have seen recently that is within the defined specifications and is two bottles or a mag in 1996 Ducru, which is an OK wine but not up to the level of the others, and 1996 Pichon Lalande, which seems to show up all over the place, but is already spoken for. I have a friend who is a Mouton collector who bought a case of 1996 Mouton on release and has stored it in his temperature controlled cellar (in Memphis) since then. I will try to talk him into selling me two bottles. As to 2001 Nuits St. George from a good producer, what do I know. It's all Xinomavro to me. I will keep searching. If all else fails, how would people feel like about 1908 D'Oliveiras Madeira Boal? Anyone coming from Chicago? :)

PM sent.
On another note, I booked my flts, arriving Wed night, late-ish (10:00 PM) and likely staying at a vrbo.
I'm pretty locked in on wines to bring:

2021
Burg Thurs
2001 Dujac Charmes Chambertin
2001 G Roumier Morey St Denis Clos de la Bussiere

Bordeaux Fri
1996 Lafite Mag
2x 1970 Taylor Vintage Port

Cirq
2x 2008 Chave Hermitage

Ridge Sun
2011 Ridge Torres Petit Verdot
2012 Ridge Monte Bello

By my count I think can squeeze in one more mag or 2-3 bottles for the vrbo crewe.
Looking forward to seeing everyone

I have already purchased the LMHB for Friday night. Unfortunately, I can only attend the Thursday night event. If you'd like I'd be more than willing to offer you the LMHB for exactly what I paid for it.

In the last few weeks my schedule has exploded. I get to watch my son on Wednesday night with the College of Charleston Men's Soccer Team. Then it is Burgundy Thursday (My wife and I are so excited). Friday I'm off to a conference to speak in New Orleans. Saturday night I fly to Tampa to speak at another conference all day on Sunday and then fly home Monday morning. It'll be a eventful few days.

PS: Scott, I'm sorry I can't make the Friday event. Hopefully the LMHB will be taken up by someone. As a "penance" I'd be more than willing to bring an extra 2001 Burg to make up for the cancellation.

Ok - last (almost) declaration. For Saturday night we are working on sourcing (sorry Cran!) some old Barolo which should go with the Brunello set as an 'Italian' flight. Still TBD which one it will but, but we'll update once we know for sure.

Looking forward!

Zachy's?
It is heartening to see Nebbiolo with some age on it.
After a night of "barely legal" burgundy on Thurs and "almost adulting" Bordeaux on Friday, let's see what delights we have on Saturday.

S1, any update on venue or any gaps/holes to fill?
