I'm trying real hard to keep my cellar from overflowing, as there's no other place in the house or at work suited for keeping wine.
For a while this summer I kept it below 450 bottles, then this fall I went up to 470, and now I'm creeping upwards again.
No Moratorium though, I have my sights set on some classified growths at the local Total Wine.

Took my allocations of 2016 Clape Cornas, moratorium no more, not even quasi.

Maybe should classify these Clape as grape juices or nutritious drinks.

So I’ve been hanging out here since 10/25 and at times it feels like an episode from the Twilight Zone while at other times like a certain en pair singing in an alpine meadow. Certainly others have experienced these feelings.

I need to do a major edit with my Cellartracker listings.

We haven't been buying much wine at all. Watching the bucks.

Two & a half years of elder care giving hasn't dulled our desire for wine, though. When we started this, I think there were in excess of 350 bottles in our cellar.

Right now, I think there might be 60 bottles.

Phil, even though dollars must be tight, I prescribe you leaving this god-forsaken chamber and moving over to the”what I bought this week” sun room.

Silver lining / look on the bright side:

1) 60 bottles is a snap to inventory.
2) You can find a bottle in an instant.
3) You get to have a bunch of fun hunting when the time comes.

That's what I'm counting on. I need to take my laptop down & just go through things, one by one.

There will be a bunch of "missing presumed drunk". A few I'll be able to track when we consumed because I tried to take a label photo every time I've opened a bottle.

Just remembered there are about 20 bottles left in the wine refrigerator at our house. Will have to inventory those as well (and perhaps move them down here to Mom's place).

My year end moratorium took a major hit when I took a drive out to Biggio Hamina to pick up some long lost BerserkerDay wines along with a case of whites for other family members. Some how two cases of red found their way into the back. It was a Holiday Sale after all.

Does sending some funds to a fellow CT member for a few bottles get me booted out of here? This fine gentleman offered me some older vintages from a brand I was hoping to try, so it's more of a mercy offering "care package". Technically, I paid for wine that was resold to me, so I guess I'm outta here.

Like Harry Kalas used to day "OUTTA HERE!". It's only 4 bottles, and they should ship Monday, so I doubt that should even be listed as pending.

I broke the moratorium by purchasing 10 bottles of assorted wines from Minnesota & Wisconsin. There is a special place in the moratorium for that, right???

I am checking in here for a bit. I am out of space and have some desired non wine purchases for 2018 I need to save for.

I am also trying to change my buying habits for 2018, fewer winery direct purchases to free up money for more French and Italian purchases.

New exception? If they're arriving so fast that they don't need to be listed as pending. I'm good with that.

Last purchase was 11/18. Wife wants to move so I jammed on wine buying brakes. Will still probably by my usual wineries when offered, but likely cutting way back on quantity. I dread moving all those bottles.

Thought not wife initiated, I may be in same moving boat. I really dread the thought of having to move that much wine. Guess that's what one would call a "high quality problem"

Last time we moved, I hired a local guy who did some gardening work for us, rented a Hertz truck, and we loaded it bottle by bottle, marked each case with contents, etc. It was way less horrible than I expected. I was nervous about potholes (Hertz trucks have terrible suspension) but in fact nothing bad happened.

Then on arrival, we organized the boxes into the same sequence we had used when putting the wine into them, and unloaded back into the new cellar without losing the organization.

I wish it were just a local move. If it comes through, it will be cross country from Florida to Northern California. Hopefully things will work so that a move in not necessary, but if it is I'm not looking forward to moving my entire cellar to the west coast.

Ouch. Several of our dedicated wine friends have moved to California for work in the industry, so we'd come visit you two as part of a Week o' Wine out West.

Besides, imagine how much you'll save on shipping! .... unless you start ordering more from B-21.
