Checking in for a spell. Should be doable given the list exception.

Ordered a 6-pack of 2016 Montille Taillepieds during EP, but these don’t count right since I won’t get the wines until next year?

It won't be quite a full month of Moratoriuming before Myriad's release date of January 16th. I'll be continuing my vertical of Dr. Crane. It's also been an exercise in self control keeping myself here despite some nice deals at my usual haunts recently.

Semi-Moratorium (i think it's allowed per the rules)

Want to cut spending by 50% this year. Need to consume more inventory as well, but i can only do so much.

My wife just told me I need a moratorium for a month.
She says I've shown no compunction to not spend money I don't have on things I don't need (car racing for instance).

My moratorium duration as I see it is only until I consume 12 or 24 bottles so I can buy another case or two without going over 500 in cellar.
And if I get too anxious I can get a Mix 6 fix at Total Wine.

What good is working & slaving for money if you can't use it for something that makes you smile once in a while?

A plan for the Moratorium - a Planetorium!

She went along on nearly every trip when I raced every summer from 1995 to 2010.
I did a lot on a relatively small budget and reaped a lot of enjoyment.
It was only in 2005 when I threw reason to the wind and did whatever I could to be competitive - finishing the season with a significant credit card balance.
Her complaints about my spending fell on deaf ears back then too.

I figure below 500 bottles is a good place to stay for a while until I come up with more storage space anyhow.
However, buying less bottles means I can up the per bottle price (always thinking I am).

Racing is a heck of a lot more expensive then buying wine. Drank beer back then and only got into this wine thing later and only spend half what I did then. Just completely out of room.

Holding strong other than the No Girls and Myriad high-end Cabs purchases. But those don't count per the "list" exception rule.

Except that I wasn't buying spares for the future all the time, only the things that needed frequent replacement.

You know, you and a couple other members have quite a few "exceptions" to the Moratorium rules.

It pays to have been here since the early days. The rules can be complicated to beginners.

Settling for the winter and spring and next fall... I’ve decided to pull back purchases unti I get relocated in NC in early 2019. Now to start drinking down some of the manifest... er, inventory.

I only need to "consume" 4 more bottles to be eligible for an overnight pass.

Baby steps here. I didn't look at the auction catalogs this week (hence didn't bid), and passed on a few emailed offers. No purchases... but it's only been a week.

Looks like I am here for a while. I made the mistake of adding up what we spent last year. Not a high for us, but close. I finished the racks for the new wine room, and emptied the cases from the garage and some from the off-site, and realized I am 80% full.

I realized I probably need to kee the off-site.

80%!!! Are you crazy, you don't belong here! You still have room for another 40-45%!

I need a ruling. Despite swearing that I was NOT going to buy anything on Berserker Day, I purchased 2 GG Gold glasses. Since that was NOT a wine purchase, I still qualify as a Moratorium member in good standing, correct?
