Well, if no one else is going to go for shooting fish in a barrel... James Bond Movies - Dr. No - For dinner, Champagne is poured into triangular flute. "That's a Dom Perignon '55 - it would be a pity to break it," says Dr. No when Bond gets agitated. "I prefer the '53 myself," responds Bond, sitting down. From Russia with Love - The classic exchange here is on the train. When Bond, his girlfriend and the enemy, Grant, are having dinner together on the Orient Express, we get one of the more famous wine scenes from the series. First, Bond and Tatiana have a bottle of Taittinger Blanc de Blanc Champagne with their sole. That's a nice combination. But Grant orders a Chianti. The waiter asks in confusion if he wants a white Chianti, and Grant says "No, the red kind." Back in 1963 wine was about Following the Rules, and one rule was that fish meant white wine. Later, Bond says, "Red wine with fish. Well, that should have told me something." Grant replies back: "You may know the right wines, but you’re the one on your knees." Goldfinger - "My dear girl, there are some things that just aren't done. Such as drinking Dom Perignon '53 above a temperature of 38 degrees Farenheight. That's as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs." (Side note - Pussy Galore, the second enemy woman he seduces away from the Dark Side, is "Champagne Leader" for her group of pilots.) Thunderball - "Beluga Caviar, Dom Perignon '55" You Only Live Twice - When he's at the Japanese office again, James (in disguise) first refuses alcohol because it's too early. The secretary coos, "A Dom Perignon '59, Mr. Fisher. Are you really sure you won't change your mind?" Bond replies, "Well, if you insist ..." On Her Majesty's Secret Service - At the casino, James orders "Dom Perignon '57". He and Tracy have it with caviar - "Royal Beluga - north of the Caspian" Diamonds Are Forever - Now for the great ending sequence, where Bond's wine skills actually come in handy. Bond and his lady-friend are on a cruise ship when the two bad guys come in, posing as a waiter and a wine steward. Steward: "Wine sir? Mouton-Rothschild '55." The steward uses a gas ejector to remove the cork. He then gives Bond the cork. Bond smells the cork and also smells the steward's colone and realizes it's the bad guy. Steward: "A fine selection, if I may say." Bond: "I'll be the judge of that." ... (sip) ... "The wine is quite excellent, although for such a grand meal I had rather expected a claret." Steward: "Of course, unfortunately our cellar's rather poorly stocked with clarets." Bond: "Mouton-Rothschild IS a claret." Live and Let Die - When Bond is in his Bungalow with "Mrs Bond" he calls room service. "I'd like a bottle of bollinger please, slightly chilled, 2 glasses." The Man with the Golden Gun - When Bond lands on Scaramanga's island, he is offered a "Dom Perignon sixty-four." Bond replies, "I prefer the '62 myself. Still, beats a bag of peanuts." Scaramanga then shoots off the cork. At dinner with Scaramanga, Bond remarks on the wine, "Excellent - slightly reminiscent of a '34 Mouton." Scaramanga replies, "Then I must add it to my cellar!" referring to the '34 Mouton and in fact makes a note for himself to do that. There's also a bottle of Champagne in the background here. The Spy who Loved Me - Bond only mentions wine once. He says, "Maybe I misjudged Stromberg. Any man who drinks Dom Perignon '52 can't be all bad ..." Moonraker - It's halfway through the movie before the first REAL mention of wine occurs. Bond gets into the doctor's room and sees a bottle of Champagne waiting. He says, "Bollinger! If it's '69, you were expecting me." It's interesting that he would say that, when up until now he's been drinking Dom Perignon almost exclusively! For Your Eyes Only - In Greece, Bond has ouzo. Then at dinner, Bond's dinner companion says, "May I suggest a white Ribolo from Catalonia, my home place?" Bond replies, "If you forgive me, I find that a little too scented for my palate ... I prefer the Theotaki Aspero". They agree and drink the white wine with dinner. A View to a Kill - There's a classic exchange in the French restaurant: Bond tastes his Champagne and says "Bollinger '75" Friend: I see you are a connoiseur, Monseiur Bond. Bond: an suite Lafite Rothschield sec on neuf sil vous plais (i.e. gimme some Bordeaux too) Friend: Another Excellent Choice Bond: I am pleased you approve ... The Living Daylights - Russian General - "What's this? From Harrods a godsend, the food here is horrible." Still Talking - "what's this, Caviar, well that's peasant food for us, but with champagne it's ok. " And more - "Bollinger RD - the best!" License To Kill - Down in South America, Bond says "I'd like a case of champagne - bollinger RD". He then drinks Champagne in the bar. Goldeneye - To start with, James has Bollinger in the car with his evaluator. Die Another Day - At the Hong Kong hotel, "If there's any left, the '61 Bollinger." Casino Royale (2006) - Bond begins by drinking a large Mount Gay with soda. Mount Gay is a rum from Barbados, so in essence he's having a rum and coke. Next, James moves on to Champagne. He wants a Bollinger Grand Anee along with beluga caviar.
