ORIGINAL: ChrisinSunnyside We are becoming wine hermits. Nothing wrong with that! My wife and I work with the general public, and our dream is to retire to our own island so we can minimize contact with people. Especially in Jersey which is like Ahole Central Not sure why that is ??? Both of the worst people I ever worked for were from Jersey. I know we can't generalize but 2 for 2? The East Coast management style is a complete FAIL out West. The beat 'em up in meetings, never smile at staff, negative management style I've never seen work. Some people try to put round pegs in square holes also. Rick Population density and competitiveness. New Jersey is the most densely populated state, which leads to crazy traffic (stress) and a lot of competitive situations (more stress). I've found once I get outside the NorthEast corridor (particularly south of Richmond or west of Exton / West Chester) people get MUCH nicer. The whole Boston to D.C. stretch is just too jam packed with people ready to flip you off, curse you out, or even worse, over the slightest little thing. I remember the first time I drove in North Carolina. I was sitting in the driveway of a convenience store, waiting for a gap in traffic to pull onto the road. Somebody actually stopped for the red light early to wave me out in front of them. I was puzzled - who would do that? Were they up to something? Why do they want me in front of them? Nobody does that! ....after a few days in Murphy (near Asheville) I realized people are just nice like that. Not in Joizey! Even people from the western suburbs of Philadelphia know that the city and NJ has plenty of stressed out mean people.
