Obviously buried under piles of roast pig, foie gras, smelly cheese and several dozen bottles from his in-laws cellar.

Thanks all.

Been very busy. And getting old. I hardly have the strength to put my teeth in every morning.

Had a decent birthday, but the highlight (apart from waking up next to The Current Mrs Jaines) was Gareth coming to my house and giving me a 1983 La Mission Haut Brion. Stunning wine.

Paul is one guy that never needs a reason to party. However I will send him a belated birthday cheer.

Had a fab night with Paul and Thursday. Lovely mrs Jaines laid on some sumptuous food, including a delectable rabbit lasagne. We had some lovely wines, a lovely roumier from 2002 (I think) a delightful 1991 Tondonia, the really rather nice 1983 mission haut brion, as well as something else I cannot remember that replaced a corked (doh!) 1994 beaucastel. Though annoyingly I had to get a rather late train back and missed out on a more length night

Fourrier that's right, and of course the 75 chianti. I must be going senile or something to forget...

Creeping crud. Missed it. Again.

A belated Happy Birthday to the esteemed pjaines.

Hopefully, much merriment & celebration was in order yesterday for your actual birthday.

Can't seem to hit this on the day.

Guess we'll be continuing your B-day fest when I arrive in early March.
Looking forward to it more than I think is healthy for your liver.
Hope I chose the best gift! ( a btl of jam-jammy Petit Sirah.)

Yeah...wonder what he got up to. Word on the street is that he got hammered on lots of booze in the cupboard under the stairs ... Harry potter style.
I have it on good authority his detox started today....,with a 2010 corton Charlemagne grand cru and some Brie....
