We had lamb with our Burgundy.
Apparently he wanted the same.

2003 Tollot-Beaut Corton. This is grand. Truly. Even at 14 years this is special. Deep, full and complex. This is a swirl with soy, A-1, black cherry and light oak contrails. This has thrust through the finish. Years to burn. What a beauty!

01' Clos des Epeneaux - Comte Armand - one hour decant. Restrained nose of deeply pitched dark fruit. Tannins need to round out further. Still a very nice Pommard.

and

01' Coche Dury Meursault 2001 - vibrant and alive but seems to be fading. Punching above it's class.

Way to announce your presence with authority!
Welcome.

I'm a big fan of Armand (and a bigger fan of 01s across the board).
And Coche is...well...Coche...

We did '10 Jadot Beaune Greves.
I think we are beginning our 12th year of Thursdays without a miss.

2007 Drouhin Morey-Saint-Denis
Its an excellent village (with some decent percentage of declassified 1er if I recall correctly) wine that I wish I had in a more significant quantities. Maybe I'll be able to pick some more from their Beaune location next time I'm lucky enough to pass through the cotes.

posting in anticipation of Thursday and hopefully to give you Burgundy experts something to respond to tomorrow...

when in Burgundy earlier this year, after being deathly resistant to Chardonnay as a concept due to my hatred for oaky California Chardonnay, i fell head over heels in love with white Burgundy -- specifically through Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc (2013 and 2014). i'd love any other recommendations for this style of white Burgundy, even better if it's a bit cheaper than the Leflaive. my white drinking habits before this were entirely German Riesling and Sancerre.

A bit early, but '14 Aurelien Verdet Hautes CdN Le Prieure. Tasty stuff. Def. on the richer side for a burg, but tasty nonetheless. More fruit, less earth / tannin than I'm used to. But enough acid to keep it lively. Stoked to have many more bottles of this in the cave.

Happy Burgundy Diwali.
We are neither Hindu nor Indian, but it is a really cool celebration.
We sipped Drouhin Vaudon Chablis outside while I prepared food and placed many, many votives and tea lights around our outdoor dining table. We then kidnapped a neighbor so we could serve her dinner.

Punjabi-style grilled Rock Cornish Game Hens
Ginger-Chile Roti
Creamy and earthy mustard greens

The pics didn't turn out nearly as well as the food and the evening.

No pictures but just got back from a restaurant. We were both having seafood and were feeling a Chablis and there was only one on the menu, it was a 2015 Joseph Drouhin Vaudon. It was a really nice wine, especially for the markup you pay at a restaurant.

I have not enjoyed most of the '15 Chablis I have tasted but I like that bottle a lot.
Screaming value.

I just opened a 2010 Joseph Drouhin Chorey-les-Beaune. I had a case of this, and this is the last bottle; I should have waited until now to open them. It's in its prime now. Delicate, but very good, and well-balanced, with black cherry, black raspberry, faint oak, and some hibiscus flowers and orange peel at the end. Nice.

2012 Faiveley Givry "Champs Lalot".

Nice white burg. Pretty fat and ripe, but not overly oaked. Decent acidity. Pretty decent stuff.
