Ahh....Chopin Waltzes (Tamas Vasary recording, 1966), 2009 Moillard Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, and a fire in the fireplace on this dark, frigid winter day. Does life get much better?

It could.
Are you roasting a lamb in the fireplace?

No (homemade pizza on the way....), but I realize now that I opened my other bottles of this too early. This is one of the best Pinot Noirs I ever tasted....outstanding classic Burgundy. Lots of black cherry, chocolate, sandalwood, patchouli, and....fresh rising bread dough...along with generous acidity. This could go for years. I wish I'd saved the others until now.

Tis a frigid winter day here as well. Still feel as if my young Burg collection needs some age before i begin drinking these on a weekly basis. 2014 Bourgogne still too early to drink??

zackly.

As in, zackly which '14 Bourgogne(s) are you referring to? Some are pretty nice right out of the gate.

Some days are good; some days are great; some days are magical.

79 degrees with passing clouds and a nice 12-15 knot breeze. I have a little color on my face (in late Dec.)
A fun, nicely-paced round of golf (got my money's worth--hit it a lot, but a few really good holes, including a chip-in and a long birdie putt on a difficult hole).
While we were away, the landscapers installed some beautiful new palms.
Opened a '12 L Michel Butteaux--CORKED (nothing can spoil my mood; I have more Chablis)
Opened a '12 Billaud-Simon Mont de Mill Vv (ROCKING!!)
Sitting on the sunporch, wondering what I'll open next to go with a ham and potato dish similar to Rösti.
The color of the sky is amazing.

Sipping a basic 2014 Bourgogne from a producer i've never heard of. Even though i am sick doesn't mean i should be uncivilized. Pairs well enough with Christmas leftovers.

great post. Other end of the spectrum here in the hill country. 38 degrees. Fireplace going. Ragu has been slowly simmering for about 5 hours now. Will be served with pappardelle and a 2005 Poderi Aldo Conterno Langhe Nebbiolo Il Favot. Nothing too fancy but all in all a great way to spend an evening

Mrs. Eddie made the Beef-Bourguignon-to-end-all-Beef-Bourguignons, and we matched it with a 2007 Agharta Syrah. The pairing was spectacularly good.

I hope all of you dined as well this evening as we did.

Must have been in a cooking mood this BT... we made a tasty Tuscan White Bean Soup and this morning will be frying some bacon to start the base of my Bouef Bourguignon that will simmer slowly all day.

For once someone else is getting pounded with a foot of snow. My hillside is white with snow already as I gaze out the window and down the valley. It is -7 degrees out though, without the considerable wind chill. A good night to look through a bowl of gossamer 2008 Dujac Chambolle and into the fire.

HRH wanted them her favorite way--wrapped tightly in foil and roasted at 400 for about an hour.
My favorite is cubed, tossed with olive oil and Berbere spice and roasted at 375.

I have to admit that last night, she killed it. They caramelized into dessert.
