Yup, time to start thinking about this. We need to start cracking and make it happen as my taste for wine really wanes during the heat of summer. I have not had any firm takers on Austin, so maybe SA or Dallas again? What does the gang think? I will even declare some wines to make it more interesting.

1974 Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
1987 Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve
1987 Heitz Martha's

I'm unsure if I have any wine even slightly worth sharing, but I depending on date, it's possible we could come if it were in Dallas. But then again it's a busy spring/summer for my hubby ...

So, in short, if you have it in Dallas we probably won't come and even if we do won't bring anything good. And if that isn't an incredibly tempting offer, I don't know what is.

I am in. Location does not matter. We can sort that out later. I'll throw one to get things going.

1970 Château Suduiraut

Once we get a theme rolling I am sure a lots more will jump out.

Do you think we might be able to get Petitblanc to make the trek ?

Kevin, you never know. I'll be watching as this develops. It would be great to get back down your way.

Will do Austin. One evening at your home and one at a local BYOB. After April 15th before it gets hot. Shall we try to pick a weekend?

I can't do the weekend of the 28th because I need to give Kevin a hard time.

Weekend of Apr 28??

For what it's worth, I think that's the weekend of the inaugural Austin Food & Wine Festival.

Might knock me out (seriously) but no idea at this point.

I do not fear the Austin food thingy.

I'll be in Paso Robles at Hospice du Rhone, so it doesn't matter to me.
Just thinking that getting premium space in a wine-friendly restaurant may prove to be difficult that weekend.

Michelle and I would love to make it, but it's going to be tough - our wedding is in Mexico at the end of May and our weekends leading up to it are counted. But I'll keep an eye on this thread and if it works out, maybe we can drive over for a day.

OK GG, YoDaddy, oski, tac, et all....next date that works for everybody?

btw, if 5/5 works for everybody then by all means roll with it. My trip isn't certain and if it becomes certain I guess I'll just miss it.

I say let YoDaddyO and tacman drive the date since they're the locals and we obviously hope to have them there. Especially since YoDaddyO has volunteered his crib for target practice.

I would enthusiastically like to host most likely a Saturday evening affair.

I have an issue through early May as Friday's are dominated by baseball as my son plays for his HS Varsity program

Due to the season and playoffs...mid May is probably best for me relative to the whole weekend. Otherwise i would be limited (but enthusiastic) to hosting/participating on saturday.

I do expect them to make the playoffs but not go terribly deep...

April early May...I'm Saturday only

Mid May on ...I can confidently participate in the whole weekend.

You are certainly welcome. We like to keep to group size to 20 or less so that everyone can get a decent taste of what is passed around.

Joe,

Send me a private message with your email address. If you like, I could then add you to my email list. I run a local wine group which includes many of the posters here and from the Wine Spectator forum, etc...
