According to the most recent post on Wine Spectator Online's "Unfiltered" column, Neil Young wrote the song "Cinnamon Girl" about a particularly good bottle of Syrah, and "Heart of Gold" was written about a Sauternes. Who knew?

Saw them in Philly last week, been playing this on my commute. Outstanding show, quite the sonic and visual experience. Preservation Hall Jazz Band opened and put on a smoking hot set.

Cold, grey, windy and depressing outside. Perfect fall weather for Radiohead. Hail to the Thief cranking in my truck today.

There There is a beautiful piece of work.

I'm now listening to the 1958 D'Oyly Carte performance of The Pirates of Penzance....my favorite operatic perforance. Wow, this is good.

I had started watching the 1983 movie version (Kevin Kline, Angela Lansbury), and it was so dreadfully bad I had to turn it off after only a couple of minutes....I felt like I needed to take a shower. No one has ever improved on that wonderful 1958 recording.

I have just discovered the music of Junior Kimbrough. I'm a big blues fan, and cannot believe I lived 58 years without knowing about him. It would be like......loving wine for many years, and never hearing of Romanee-Conti.

From Prog Rock to the Blues in 30 days.
What a journey.

I'm doing my usual thing - listening to a Tangerine Dream CD many times, one after another - in my car.
Right now it's Tangram. I was sad when I played it for the first time - sad that I hadn't heard it in so many years.

Gotta love Tangerine Dream.

Great minds think alike.

I'd not listened to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway in forever, as I have a vinyl copy. My turntable has been out of the mix for at least 15 years.

So my wife got me the remastered CD for me for Christmas.

So totally different than most anything else I've been listening to.

Hilarious lyrics.

Ah, that brings back college days, listening to their first albums.

I've been listening to Broken Bells today. Good stuff.

Had Alexa play Paul Simon from Amazon Music. Old stuff is great and I kind of like that African music theme he does. Have my Echo hooked up to my Home Theater System through Bluetooth. Works great.

Continuing to work my way though recently acquired vintage vinyl. There is something extra therapeutical about putting the record on the turntable and pressing play. And then repeating 20 minutes later...

I have about 650 albums that I haven't played in 20 years.

I keep intending to pull out the turntable to see if it still functions (a Yamaha YP-211 model). Likely needs a new belt, if not stylus.
