Both wines were amazing. I am a little bit worried about Pavie 2005 as I dont see how on earth this can last many more years. The Clos Apalta 2005 was my very last and it was superb.

I like the symbolism of that choice! Continuum seems ideal.

My dad passed away Oct 1,1996 while I was on sabbatical in London. Father’s Day is sometimes a mixed bag! But my kids both sent greetings and in that generational way, it kinda of works….

2010 Lopez Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva Blanco at a restaurant in Kinsale, Ireland (95 euros of the list). Best white wine I’ve had in a while but very hard to find in the US. Oh…and a lot of good whiskey.

100% Petit Verdot? I'm sure that was… “robust”.

2011 Rasa Vineyards Riesling The Lyricist with 4-cheese ravioli in a brown butter and olive oil sauce. Yum! Nothing like an aged Riesling to make a dinner sing. Happy FFP!

Ive been drinking a lot of wines lately but have not posted, I am just lazy.

Today we had a Sterling Vineyards Iridium cab sauv 2015, yes, the one of the crazy beautiful bottle. Wine was OK and I was happy I pay $120 for it a few years ago and not the original price of $250. A solid 92 pointer and great for our filet and tacos de trompo.

Over the long July 4th weekend, I managed to drink 4 wines...the most I've had to drink in a l-o-o-o-o-n-n-n-n-n-g-g-g-g-g time:

2010 Delaplane Cellars Left Bank Reserve (Virginia)...very good and could've aged more.
2017 Delaplane Cellars Viognier Reserve (Virginia)...OUTSTANDING!!
2018 Delaplane Cellars Melange Blanc (Virginia)...nice, even with a slightly bitter back end.
2009 Chateau Potelle VGS Zinfandel Mount Veeder (Napa)...unfortunately, past prime, but surprisingly okay to drink on the 2nd day.

Edit: Forgot to mention 2016 Marques de Riscal Rioja Gran Reserva...quite tasty.

I'm not a big fan of chardonnay, however, I must admit tonight's wine was delicious:

2014 Morlet Family Vineyards Chardonnay Coup de Coeur

The wine paired quite well with fried green tomatoes, shrimp alfredo and, most especially, fresh corn on the cob.

2010 Buty Cabernet Sauvignon Beast Phinny Hill Vineyard (1.5 L) -- stunningly good, great color, solid and ready to be enjoyed with homemade gazpacho and freshly made tabbouleh.

2015 Wwe. Dr. H. Thanisch (Erben-Thanisch) Bernkasteler Graben Riesling Großes Gewächs

Very good bottle. Unfortunately, I did not post a tasting note as it was a celebration of sorts and pausing to do so would have detracted from the moment.

This is a recent find that was just stunning and paired beautifully with a Napolese pizza last night with peaches, blistered cherry tomatoes, and crispy Prosciutto, yum!
