I was fooling around with the new API last night, looking at what wines I purchased and consumed in 2012 and how I scored them when I sampled them, and was struck by the fact that many of your pages don't let me sort by score. Would this be something you could add across the board?

For example, if I do a consumed report, I can group by producer but can't group or sort by score -- score is just not an option for any of the pull downs, including "more...". The same is true for a purchases report.

In contrast, score is the default sort for the myCellar page, and I use it all the time. I generally want "my score" but there are times when "CT score" or "expert score" matter more, like when I want to see if there is a bottle I've been ignoring from, say, spain and really ought to sample -- that would be a case for a CT score, since the expert ones are long-term numbers, and my scores are of course null for wines I've yet to try.

Thanks for the super work! CT just gets better and better...

Sorry, but every view is individual. So adding these across the board involves a LOT of work to tweak the lower level queries and then to teach both the old and new sites to handle (or ignore) all of the new columns. I would like to do more view unification over time, but this is a surprisingly big project.

Right, and I have no real issue with that. But why are the scores not available (at all) from the pull-down sorting and grouping options on the reports pages?

Click on the "More..." in the sorting row to sort by the scores.

On those reports, more doesn't show score as an option. That's my point!

Consumed and purchased, by year. Maybe others too, but I was trying to figure out what my favorite wines consumed in 2012 were, so I did a report by year, then wanted to sort by my score. Then started wondering what the ct crowd thought of wines I purchased... Same issue.

PS: why am I a "starting tracker"? I've used CT for years...

Again, the Consumption and Purchase reports do NOT have the score data integrated. No column. No sorting. By design for now.

"Starting Tracker" refers to your forum status based on the number of posts.

Starting "poster" would be more accurate. Anyone who has used CT for five years obviously isn't a starting tracker. Falls into the "don't insult your loyal users" category... Or "Board newbie"... Or best of all, "Longtime tracker, but new to the board"

OK, Ken, thanks for the feedback. Look, I set this forum up back in 2005. One late night I put together some user rankings based in thresholds. That was as much thought as it has gotten. The thing is, if you want me to change this, you need to go to the General Discussion forum and get everyone there to agree it should be changed. I recommend the MegaTracker thread.

I should not post too much anymore here, because I love to be a junior

Impressive! Of course, the real question is how useful those TNs turn out to be to other people!

In fact the cool thing to do would be to start looking at the data -- relating buying patterns to cellar contents and "behavior" on CT. You've got a google-like opportunity because, at least in theory, you see what we own, what we buy (and when) and even what we click through as we decide what to drink. So one could imagine a predictive model... a lot of value in those things these days!

When viewing My Cellar in classic mode, I am able to hover on the score to see the # of community notes. That's nice

Any chance of new CT getting that functionality or is it already there and I don't see it ?

thx

We will look at adding that, but have you tried simply clicking on the score in the new site?

Ha! No I hadn't. That's perfect. I thought a click would take me away from the page.

Thanks Eric
