Up to 3 degrees with a windchill of -6.
Brrrrrrr!

Supposed to get to 15 degrees (the sun is shining), but snow is starting tonight.

Dawn, do you ever get lake effect snow there? I know you're a fairly long ways from Lake Michigan, but maybe with a strong wind from the north/north-west?

No, we're a little too far south for us to call it lake effect. By the time it makes it here, it's just plain old snow.

23°F (-5°C) currently here in KC.

Snow expected to be starting at noon, with 3-4 inches projected.

Planning on being land-locked.

It's been chilly here, too. 7F yesterday morning, didn't get above 18 all day, so I built a big roaring fire in the fireplace....

Our cat, Zinfandel, staked out the couch opposite the fire:

Blizzard warning for Washington DC. Looks like this is gonna cause a great big mess in Virginia and surrounding areas.

Stable cold air in the upper Midwest. Little bit of cold, little bit of sun, little bit of snow.....no wind makes me happy. Really hoping we start to see a warming here as the trails are a mess and treadmills are NOT cheap.

Our forecast here is now for 12" to 15" of snow. This sort of thing ceases to be fun as soon as you are old enough to shovel it. Our interstate highways probably will be closed down sometime today.

Please keep us posted. Read a summary on the Weather Channel tonight and it seems that KY and TN had more snow than many areas. Stay warm!

Maybe red wine or, if I remember correctly, single malt scotch?

Cheers!

Our area is shut down. I haven't heard a car drive down the road in front of our house (not even a snow plow) for about 12 hours now. An old friend came by yesterday with a huge front-end loader and plowed out our driveway for $30; now we can't even find the driveway, as there was considerable drifting last night. I'll try to post some pictures later.

I'm craving a Hardee's monster biscuit; maybe I can get them to e-mail one to me...

People in Chicago are jealous. We've had nothing but ice storms and a few scattered light snowfalls this winter. I've only used my snowblower once.

My Rhone wines are locked & loaded.....

Although it's cold here north of Atlanta, not so bad as other places. So in sympathy, I ground with a mortar and pestle three whole cloves, two allspice berries, tossed in a stick of cinnamon and some already ground cardamon, added a heaping teaspoon of wildflower honey and steeped in about 4-5 ounces of boiling water, then added an ounce and a half of Old Pultney 12 yo Single Malt Scotch and grated a bit of nutmeg on top.

Stay warm, my friends. Here's to you.

Gads, what wretched weather. It's 48 degrees, raining and windy. We have a gas-fireplace-with-blower in our family room and I'm having to run it today. We should be running the air conditioner at this time of year.

I don't know when my garden will dry out enough for me to plant my peppers and cucumbers....maybe not until mid-June.

My friends in Houlton, ME reported three inches of snow yesterday. 2nd straight year they have had snow after May 15. It snowed on Memorial Day last year. I also noticed snow in the Rockies as well.

My favorite winery in Wisconsin, Wollersheim suffered huge losses over the weekend due to late season frosts. Bummer, as i really enjoy their wines, both the whites, stickies, Rose & reds.

I know it is comical to all you eastern folks, but we are again shut down over a couple inches of snow. It's all those hills. We can drive in the rain.

The car's thermometer said 25˚ this morning. Add a stiff 20 - 30 knot wind and I broke out a jacket. Nothing wrong with a calm chilly day, but when the wind drives the cold down to your bones it's uncomfortable.

I opened the front door to let the cat out this morning and the wind was blowing so stiffly I almost couldn't close the door.

If/when the wind gets strong enough to blow the cat back into the room like a tumbleweed, it's time to consider moving South.

My car read -6 F degrees this morning.

The guys i typically run with did 6 miles in our balmy morning weather along the snow covered trails. I was impressed.

They are expecting temps as low as -20 F degrees later this weekend outside of Chicago. I. Can't. Wait.

Lived there. Got the ice scraper. Only + from Chicago winters was my development of appreciation of red wine by the fireplace.

Whenever I feel any Loachapoka chill, I have only to check in with Karl or Dave and it seems balmy again. However, it is 31F here (feels like 28).
