v 3.10.11 Lots of miscellany today. - More 'robustness' work on the Twitter integration. Also now integrated on the "Add purchase" screen so you can Tweet when you add wines to your cellar.
- Some tweaking on the autocompletion menus. When using the search control at the upper left, the global wine addition search or the mapping interface, picking an item from the list automatically submits the form. However, elsewhere in the site this just populates the edit control in question (e.g. when assigning a store name, a bin, a location etc.) In the latter cases it is random/aggressive to submit the form. Sorry for anyone who might have tripped over this (I turned it off as soon as I found it a few days ago). No one actually complained.
- The CT-API now exposes a method to add/edit/delete a purchase. Email to eric@cellartracker.com if you are using or evaluating the API and need the latest documentation.
- I played with some Javascript black magic on the bulk SCAN BARCODE page here: http://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp?Table=Scan
This used to be a bit fragile as a scan would 'break' or do nothing if your focus got out of the barcode edit control. Now I have made some scripts on just this page that are quite aggressive about trying to direct all "typing" into the Barcode control (to the computer the barcode scanner is just typing a number and hitting return). The trick is that there are search and other input controls on the page that DO need to accepy typing. It's a bit tricky to know where focus is, so I am playing some tricks to keep track of that and only redirect focus into the barcode control when appropriate. What this means is that you should be able to more reliably scan without having to worry about where your keyboard focus is for a MUCH more robust experience on this page. Let me know if you see any trouble. - Coming soon: some small changes to the Dymo/FireFox integration. I'm not sure how many are using this, but the Dymo folks have a better control out now. To fully take advanatge of this though I may have to break compatibiliity with the older, somewhat buggy control. When I make changes I will be emailing to everyone who has generated barcodes in the past year.
That's all for now. Off to walk the dog now in the driving Seattle rain...
