Since drycab's cellar is still active and public, I used the "wines in common" feature to narrow it down a little. I'll choose from these:

'05 Beaucastel
'04 Pahlmeyer
'07 SQN Pictures
'07 SQN Labels
'02 Bollinger RD

If the date had fallen on a Burg Thurs, I'd be picking from the 33 bottles of Maison Ilan that we have in common. Though, those are probably the only potential clunkers in that amazing collection

Oh that was a good idea. I should have thought of it too.

for me "Collection: 177 bottles and 13 pending in 40 wines" I guess i have some things in common. :)

I can't afford it but I may need to source a Salon.

Absolutely brilliant. Having never met Brad but gleaning a bit about the man from others, it makes perfect sense. He is remembered as one who would bring a wine that another would like.

I seem to have many many choices in common. I will raise a glass accordingly.

Agreed! This is a brilliant idea. I've got 11 wines in common and I'll go with the '05 Lewis Cab. Great choice anyway for OTBN, and this gives me one more reason to pull it.
Thanks for the suggestion

We're in.

I never spoke with Brad (unless he was at the first Cellartracker get-together in Seattle a number of years ago), but have read and enjoyed his posts.

We will raise a glass of Cabernet and toast Brad.

Thanks everyone, this is shaping up to be a great tribute. I love the 'wines in Common" concept, what a great idea.

I haven't yet picked out the wines I'm thinking of opening, but I'm contemplating a Shafer HSS and maybe a Champagne or Port. Or maybe just bring the Coravin and a bunch of bottles...

Already have the "wine in common" picked out for that night...

It is a nice concept, and I checked. Unfortunately, as I thought, we have no wines in common. Frugal soul here, and his collection is very very nice. We have one producer in common, but my Turley Zinfandel is not an exact match.

So I looked at varietal then at region. I can at least pick a key varietal from a region in common. Will think about that...there is time.

What a great tribute and the common wine idea is an excellent one. I'm in with a 2006 Beaucastel CdP.

I like the idea of pulling something either very nice or what we had in common.

In common wines:
2008 Carte Blanche Proprietary Red
2005 Château Guiraud
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut
2011 Lillian Winery Syrah
2010 Rasa Vineyards Creative Impulse
2009 Ridge Monte Bello

Leaning towards the Lillian or Guiraud... or may do a special occasion bottle.

I am in as well.

As for wines in common - 2009 Continuum This should be just about right, being in that 7 year window.

Alright, that didn't take as long as I thought. Here are the bottles in common:

1985 Graham's Port
2005 Chateau Guiraud
2009 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast
2007 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast
2010 Rivers-Marie Summa Vineyard

I see he was a Shafer fan also, but there's no more Hillside Select in my cellar.

Totally in. I'm surprised that I have 46 wines in common with Brad. Whittling down the choices, I'm thinking one of these:

2007 Checkerboard Vineyards Napa Valley
2008 Continuum Proprietary Red Napa Valley
2008 Lillian Winery Syrah Blue Label

Followed by:

1985 Graham Porto Vintage Port Blend

I'm leaning towards the Checkerboard, as it'll be a tribute to the organizer of this event, as well. Scott will understand....

In, although there's a chance it may need to be that weekend instead of the Friday itself. Winewise, I don't have much in common with him, but looks like I could pull a 2012 CT WA Syrah out of storage.

Looks like we have a few wines in common. Okay, four.

I'm gonna pull the 2010 Keplinger Red Slope.

10 wines in common, which was a surprise to me. My choice though will be 2009 Lewis Syrah that Brad gifted me during a Secret Santa event a couple of years ago. Should be coming of age. When/if that runs out, probably 2006 Beaucastel CdP, our only non-Washington wine in common.

GalvezGuy: Noticed that you have had the Red Slope as well.

You did a pop-n-pour, but would you recommend a decant?

I'd love to join as I have some Realm and others in common. Unfortunately, I will be on an airplane returning from the orient at the time. It is unlikely any AA flight would have wines in common with Brad! Still, I will raise a 5 oz bottle of whatever I can get my hands on!

I would give it a little air. It has a reductive quality that needs to blow off. I would just pour enough into a glass to show the shoulder. Half an hour should be plenty.
