Is there a more consistent Napa Cabernet than those from Chateau Montelena? Alas, the naming of these wines over the last 30 years has actually varied a bit, and CellarTracker users often seem to get confused. You can see an excellent historical list on the Montelena website. The key thing to understand is that Montelena has typically offered two Cabernets each year going back some 15 years. These used to be clearly distinguished as Estate vs. Calistoga Cuvee. However, in recent vintages the Calistoga Cuvee designation has been dropped from the lower wine. As such, many people get a bit confused. We have tried to ease the confusion by displaying these grouped by vintage (the progression is actually quite clear). Please do pay attention so as to avoid creating erroneous duplicate wines.
