For those keeping track at home, this first post will serve as the master list. After each person’s name I will post what wine he/she received. Whenever someone correctly guesses their Santa, I will add their Santa's name to the right of the wine. So, if a name is shown on the right column above, then that person has already been identified as someone’s Santa. I'll also keep a running tally of remaining UNMATCHED SANTAS. We’ll keep goin’ until everyone’s been identified!

I know not everyone plays the guessing game with the same level of gusto, and that is fine. However, everyone should, at a minimum, do the following:

- Post what you received
- Say thank you!
- Make at least a guess or two, if you are so moved
- If you decide to drink your wine right away, feel free to post a tasting note and/or story
- Have fun!

- Important: if someone guesses you as their Santa, post whether or not they’re right. This means that even if you are not following the thread very closely, you should at least check in periodically and scan the posts to see if someone’s guessed you. As HEIC, I reserve the right to post your answer for you if enough time goes by and you are just leaving somebody hanging. I doubt I will have to do this, but just be aware that a minimum amount of participation from everyone is needed to keep the game moving along and fun for all.

Don’t forget that you can ask your Santa for a hint if you are stuck guessing! Santas can also provide a hint if they like, although you may want to wait until your recipient specifically asks, so as not to spoil it for someone who likes a challenge. Mysterious statements cloaked in subterfuge are always a source of amusement...

Personally I love all the sleuthing and the guessing, but I know some people are just not that into it. Hopefully this helpful listing of names will provide some assistance for those who have trouble keeping up with the craziness once the guessing game starts! I will try to update it at least once a day.

One last note: obviously, this group represents only half the total participants in SS this year. As mentioned at the beginning of the event, we’ve split the whole shebang into two groups. This was done both to keep the guessing game more manageable and to cut down on the volume of posting traffic. To that end, we’re asking that you please post only in your own group’s thread. As anyone who played this game last year knows, the thread traffic was intense and a number of people gave up playing simply because they couldn’t keep up with all the posts. So at least for the time being, try to resist the urge to cross-post. Feel free to follow both threads, of course! Depending on the amount of traffic, we may relax this rule – I mean, I like fun banter as much as the next guy.

That’s it! So, without further ado, everyone open your packages now and tell us what you got! Let the craziness begin!

- Chris (ChrisinSunnyside)

Couldn't wait, thanks Santa!!!

2 bottles, woo hoo!

2013 Weingut Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Spätlese
1989 Château Guiraud

Sweet mother of Botrytis heaven!

ok...so now that I picked what I want, when will they be shipped?

You're in luck, they're already in Philly! Meet you at the Liberty Bell at 8 for the hand off!

The Riesling was already in Philly when he posted:

Looks like Santa does respond to bribes.

Let's see.... the main conspirators were S1, ChrisinSunnyside, Hollowine, and musedir. 3 of them are Bad Santas, so I'm gonna guess it's Hollowine. The symmetry would be nice - I was his SS last year.

Scott / Hollowine: are you my CellarTracker Secret Santa?

Opened my box to find the 2011 Alain Voge Cornas Vieilles Vignes; no other clue at all, just the wine in the cardboard shipper. Syrah is my favorite varietal, but my exposure to Old World syrah is limited, so my Santa made an excellent choice! Very excited to try this!

Now to start the sleuthing; will be challenging as I have very little to go on - only the wine and that it shipped out of The Wine House in San Francisco.

I have received
2013 Delas Frères Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes

I am very excited! I have wanted to try a high quality hermitage to compare to the WA rhones with which I am more familiar, I may have to open this with some 2013 Cayuse syrahs for a good comparison.

Now on who might have given me such a wonderful gift. There is only one clue that I can discern. A bit of quick search/sleuthing leads to a distant possibility of cookiefiend, but a more likely culprit of musedir. So Musedir, are you my SS?

PRO TIP: If you are a GOOD SANTA, so is the person who sent you the box. Check the list above to eliminate half the pool when sleuthing.

OK, requested the package from those that torture me. They gave minimal resistance.

Package is from Vinopolis, great wine store in Portland. No notes on the box, no notes in the box...grrrrrrrr...

2008 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Montefico

Awesome! Thanks Santa! Italian wines are definitely in my blind spot, I've just never had much opportunity to really learn them. Very excited to try this one, love that it has a bit of age on it!

Good morning good Santas!

Fetching a box of double proportion from behind the shoes in the closet promises perhaps a double delight!

Clues outside are the involvement of the Benchmark Wine Group of California, and a "Santa" from perhaps Atlanta.

Inside a packing slip for two bottles of 2015 Peter Michael Chardonnay La Carriere, but inside the packing actually sits...

1x 2011 Rasa Living In The Limelight Petit Verdot
1x 2012 Salus Unoaked Chardonnay

A fascinating combo off the beaten path for double delights! Thanks Santa!

Simply having a look at our Atlanta crew with a cross reference of cellars, mgriffith are you my Santa?

No other hints in the box or shipping info. But I'll take the bait (I'm historically the worst at this guessing game) and ask - Hollowine - are you my SS?

Dear lord! With being distracted by tormenting TW with snowballs I forgot all about reveal day!

After digging though the massive box-o-packing peanuts..... BUBBLE WRAP!!!!!! Hot damn! Gonna release me some stress today!

Wait. There is some thing in the bubble wrap.

A bottle of 2010 Chateau Talbot!

Woot! Merci, Santa. Now to embarrass myself failing to determine who Santa is.....

Just opened a singleton from NJ. Inside I found a note on Chambers Street Wines letterhead. No doubt a good bottle inside the shipper.

I pulled open the packing to find a 1997 Taken From Granite Cabernet ! Thank you Santa!

In doing a bit of research this is a very special wine. Early production from one of the founders of the AVA. Cool wine and new AVA in CA for me.

I will have to do sluthing after going out for the day

Yep...that is pretty much it.

Sorry Don, I'm not your Santa...

I will add that I had the 2000 Silver Oak Napa a few weeks ago, it was a bit faded but with an hour of air really opened up. I'd put these in the drink now column, give it some air and go for it.

My thoughts exactly. I have an '02 in the cellar and I see a small vertical tasting of aged Silver Oak in my (near) future. Perhaps with RedRedMoreRed.

Thank You Santa for the 2015 Myriad Cabernet! There is a little back story on how I came to be in possession of this wine. I will post about it later. I gotta get a kid to his first movie at the big screen this morning. Then I have to work. Hopefully I will have some time to post more later on this evening.
I certainly appreciate the wine and the personal touch that my secret Santa Incorporated in getting me this bottle.
Have fun today folks
Chris
