Random guess #1, River Rat are you my SS?

Look at the bright side. Now you're down to a 33.3% chance.

Well I'll still stick with my thus far 0-2 failed guessing strategy of picking someone from CA. With that, River Rat are you my awesome SS?

Hi Eric,

We have grapes shipped in from Amador County each fall 3,000 miles to the Jersey Shore. We crush and press then barrel for approx. 18-24 months. The wines are not made to age so feel free to indulge anytime. We usual make 3-60 gallon barrels. Each barrel generates 24 cases. In NJ there are really limited opportunities to make decent wine from home grown grapes. It's mostly sweet dessert wines and some light whites.

Question, on your homemade wine. Tell me about that! NJ grapes? how'd you make it? Should I drink now, or wait?

Thanks!!

Yes ericindc, I am your SS. Hope you enjoy the RM!

And that's a wrap!

With bdlsmo guessing S1, the final remaining pair is vinopkm who was a Santa for yogi8938.

Good times and great wines, everyone! I enjoyed Elfing for yet another year of Secret Santa goodness. Thanks to everyone for joining and for all the fun and imaginative posts. (I think that one of Santa falling into the car has to be my favorite - so painful looking but I couldn't stop watching it!)

Glad to be a part of this really fun tradition once again. Happy Holidays and Cheers to all!

- Chris

Job well done Sir Elf! We very much appreciate the work you put into the fete and admire the patience as we asked the same questions and made the same errant guesses (I suppose we will never learn). Best of all, we showed them “Good Santas” how to play the game!

Feeling even more grateful for my Secret Santa today as we received not one, not two, but THREE bottles of Apotheic Red from well-meaning "friends" so far this season.

THEM: "You guys like wine, right?"

ME: [internal dialogue] "Yes, so why did you give us cough syrup flavored bottle of Drano instead?" [actual dialogue] "We do. How thoughtful of you."

What did I win?

Lemme guess - the propeller beanie? The tarnished decoder ring?

Look on the bright side - you have 2.25 liters of paint stripper or varnish remover.

Oh, yeah - the propeller beanie! It should be mandatory for the worst CT SS guesser to wear one for the first hour of the next off-line they attend.

Or you could just send it to me as a gift for SS and I will somehow convince myself that it's good.

Yikes. I still shudder to think of that episode. I'm pretty sure that I've moved past that stage of just completely not knowing what's up - but you never know. In any case, I couldn't help but be reminded of that adventure when Apothic came up. Yeah, it's pretty bad. Enjoy those pancakes!

You win!! Yes, I am your secret santa. And since I am a bad santa, I just mailed you the wine had I intended to send to you!! Should be there soon, lol. You should probably drink both together.

Also, waiting for tasting notes on the Steel Reserve.

-Eric

The second bottle arrived yesterday and I am intrigued. The first bottle was a 1995 Fattoria do Felsina Berardenga Chianti and the second bottle is the Rancia version of the aforementioned.

I will take your recommmedation and drink them both at the same time, probably in the next month. The Steel Reserve will be enjoyed this weekend.

Thanks again.
