Would love to hob nob amongst the famous and the infamous.

You should take your bride and stay at the Wentworth Mansion. Leave the kids and grand kids home. You guys need a break.

New Starwoods coming to town so we're targeting those. Sorry, but points always seem to prevail.

Kings Courtyard Inn is where we stayed in previous Charlestons and always really nice.

So here's some initial thoughts on wines:

Burg Thurs: 1996 Salon (can bring 2 if needed)
Fri dinner: 2x LaLa of some sort (still deciding on which), and we've got some really old Madeira that I've been wanting to try, so 1x of 1889 Justino Malmsey
Sat dinner: 2x 1993 Colgin Herb Lamb

We might sprinkle in some 1990 DP for pre dinner bubbles on Fri. And maybe some other bonus bottles tbd. Should be an epic weekend!

Here's my thoughts as well although I reserve the right to change or add as necessary:

Session 1: 2005 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos x 2 if necessary
Session 2: 2002 Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Cuvée Rare x 2
Session 3: tbd if necessary
Session 4: 2007 Vietti Barolo Rocche x 2
Session 5: tbd

We will definitely bring some bubbles for Friday - not sure what they will be yet. Possibly ‘98 Comte or Jacques Selosse Rose, but depending on sourcing maybe something else really fun. Was also thinking of some Jamet for the BBQ.

I am going to move to the "out" camp. Too much to sort out in Sept for me and using many awesome wine event chips in the first half of the year. :)

Well if the Clancy's are not going, neither are we!

Ok, so I am not serious for the reason but I am serious that we will not be in attendance. Dr. C has been wanting to go to Santa Barbara for a couple of years so we are going to try to make that our fall vacation if everything works out timing wise. Plus, we will be in Chas some time this spring to splash our feet in the ocean and rescue some hostages from S1.

Looks like you guys have some great wines and meals lined up.

Lewis BBQ is one of our regular lunch spots for their brisket. The ribs at Lewis are pretty decent too.

Circa 1886 is our favorite fine dining restaurant in Charleston. We were just there two weeks ago for a celebration. Enjoyed the antelope (tasty but a bit chewy) with a glass of Justin.

Never been to Rodney Scott's, but I've heard good things.

Cheers!

MARCH BUMP
(OP Updated)
We have a good crowd already but will welcome more people. We could seat up to 24 in the private dining room at Circa on Saturday night, and we have plenty of room for M’s Birthday BBQ on Fri. Burgundy Thursday is sold out.

For those of you on the “possible” list, there is no giant rush to declare; I will just need enough notice for Chef Marc to plan the Saturday dinner.

If additional people from the forum want to attend, it is important that their wines fit the categories for the Saturday dinner at Circa (it’s a 5 course dinner). Right now we have…
Older White Burg
2 CdPs
1 Barolo
2 AGED Calif Cab/Bordeaux Blend

We could still use dessert wines and maybe a Champagne starter.

For the Friday events, it’s easy enough to pile on with BBQ wines or Champagne. We will discuss a Sunday afternoon gathering after people complete travel plans. HRH and I will be available!

We'll be bringing two bottles of the 2007 Oddero Vigna Rionda Riserva Barolo for the Circa 1886 dinner.

We're really looking forward to meeting new friends and wish we had found this community sooner! I've been reading through previous years' events and they sound epic!

Question - for the Friday Afternoon bubbles - 2x of each bottle - or singles for more variety??

If 2x of each we will bring:

2x - NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut

If singles we will bring:

1x - NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut
1x - NV Jacques Selosse Champagne Rosé

We are still working on the BBQ wine and the burgundy.

Also put us down for staying over on Sunday as the flights are much cheaper returning home on Monday. Looking forward to a great weekend!!

And we've got some 1990 Dom P. set aside for that as well.

Let's play Fri afternoon by ear, depending on final total of attendees.

For Burgundy Thursday, I'll throw in an after-supper sipper
1936 Cave de Rivesaltes Rivesaltes Ambré Vin Doux Naturel

Just FYI - I have 2 different sparklers declared at this point (Krug et Piper)...thinking one of each currently.
If we need to go to 2 then I will pick one of the two unless I make one for the BBQ.
And I also still need to pick my BBQ PTIPM (x2) wine as well. (Tougher than I imagined)

It gets crazier by the moment.

Remember folks, you can choose Champagne or BBQ wine.
Otherwise, it goes from crazy to dangerous.
(4 bottles per couple? Not all of us are Texans, Joe)

I am starting to feel really bad about not having planned for this one. Sounds like it will be approaching epic status. If you do bring the NV Jacques Selosse V.O. Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut, I would love to hear peoples thoughts on this one. I have several bottles but have not cracked one open yet.

@mc2wines--I know better than trying to mandate

@BornToRhone--breakfast of champions

@oskiwawa--you have 6 months. Start hitchhiking.

Ok - adding some D'Yquem to the mix for Friday as that's one of M's most favorite wines. And personally think D'Yquem can pair with most anything including BBQ....

Highly recommend the pairing with the coconut layer cake from the Peninsula Grill.
