Good Morning from the Left Coast,

This is the REVEAL Thread for the Purple Drankin’ Cretin (PDC) Santas for the 2018 CT Secret Santa extravaganza. If your name is listed below, you are a PDC Santa!

Pro-tip! If you are listed here, your Recipient AND the person/cretin who sent you a gift, i.e. your Santa, are in THIS SAME GROUP! See, we make it easy here, so don’t guess someone from the other group, or you will receive a party foul.

Open! Glunk! Guess! Miss! Grovel! Enjoy!

Post what wine you received, cipher and guess as to who you think might be your Santa, give thanks, provide confirmations, denials, and other general PDC banter on this thread. I will update THIS POST periodically with information as revealed, and will generally try to keep this moving along until all the hooch is shared and matched.

And for the record - I gave the guy behind the counter your correct name. I didnt know he mistyped it until you posted something about "Jon."
Debated sending an All-Clad lid but thought you'd like the wine much better

Ahh...the original label under the new label was a bit of a give away. Not to mention the selection.

Thank you so much for the Cayuse. My experience w/ Cayuse is very limited, but I love WA Syrahs and will look forward to opening this on a special occasion in the near term. Again, many thanks!

Now I can sit back and enjoy the thread and numerous bad guesses that will be forthcoming.

Balances out the first year I participated and took two and a half weeks to figure it out - even with hints

My SS was the Shipping Manager at an address in Sarasota, and Brett not only is from there but owns / runs a storage facility there according to his profile.

However, this is obviously a ruse since Brett has already been outed. He might have had a hand in the subterfuge though.

My bottle is 2009 Il Marroneto Madonna delle Grazie BdM - nicely done! Not only a favorite of mine, but a vintage I don't have.

Given that it came from Florida, and probably from somebody who knows of my interest in Italian wine and particularly BdM, I'm going to guess it's Don.

So dontime, are you my SS?

I could tell from your cellar you like syrah and you didn't currently have any in your cellar. Glad you like it. Enjoy!

Thank you, Secret Santa! This is right up my alley!

2013 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Les Fairendes

My (easy) sleuthing reveals that it was definitely sent by River Rat. Unfortunately, River Rat is in the other group!! Now what?!

The game is afoot....back to sleuthing....

A package arrived last week at the office, and all of the exterior markings gave me some early notion of the sender.

Inside the box on reveal day? 2012 Bedrock Cabernet Sauvignon Kamen Vineyard Moon Mountain, and a German Shepherd bottle stopper. Slipped on top is a note with a warning not to open until I have completed guessing ...

Based on sender, and the significant volume of tasting notes on Bedrock Wines I am going to go ahead and guess markandsusanw as my secret santa! Thank you thank you for this wonderful (and rockin) cab!

I received two lovely bottles of Chenin Blanc -- in response to my request to make me love Chenin. I had an alternative request to receive two or more bottles under $30 that are worth aging. This gift seems to have hit both of these alternatives! The wines are:

2016 Château d'Epiré Savennières
and
6 user reviews
2014 Domaine du Collier Saumur Blanc

Thank you so much to my Secret Santa -- I am really looking forward to trying these. I hope I won't like them so I won't be tempted to buy more of them! :-)

Now, as to who sent these lovely bottles. The only information is that it came from the shipping manager of GSO based in Portland. It came from one Eric Pottmeyer who is the shipping manager there. I am assuming that he is not my SS -- though I am not sure about all of the real names of our group. I will need to do a bit more sleuthing.......

Well, GSO is just a shipping company.

Eric Pottmeyer runs Sec Wines in Portland. So this could be someone from Portland, but of course it could be someone from anywhere in the country.

Going upon my limited knowledge of the location of this group of Santas, I am going to first guess arthrovine -- arthrovine are you my SS?

I suck at covering my tracks! This was most challenging, your cellar kind of overwhelmed me! We have a local wine shop, Omaha Wine Co, who puts on a holiday tasting every year attended by 15 wine makers or reps. Hundreds of people attend, Pine and Brown are always a favorite. I hope you enjoy it.
Merry Christmas and hope to see you back here next year!

Why yes, yes it is! Might have to seek out (not source) some other vintages missing from the cellar and drink a long vertical.
