This is a pretty exciting checkin with a major new piece of functionality that a number of folks have been begging for... CONSUMPTION HISTORY Hooboy, this was a biggie. I finally added a much richer and more elegant model for tracking bottles that users drink. - There is now a table of consumed bottles that is populated when you remove bottles from your cellar.
- Now when you drink a bottle you can mark this as a bottle from your cellar, a gift, or a restaurant purchase. (The last case you would not do when removing a bottle from inventory.)
- The table of consumed bottles is fully editable so you can also add bottles you drink in a restaurant, can adjust drink dates, bottle sizes, associated purchases etc.
- I bulk populated this new table using the existing transaction logs of "deleted" bottles. For folks that accidentally did additions and deletions, you will want to remove these 'phantom drinkings' from your list of consumed bottles.
- If you accidentally add too many bottles and need to remove some, you can still 'delete' inventory without adding a record to the consumption table.
This editing facility is still pretty bare bones (and a bit awkward in places). I haven't yet built any reports to rely on this new table. That said, this will finally open the door for me to do a much nicer job of consumption reporting in the future. Please also note that the current editing UI is fully functional, but there definitely remain some opportunities to better integrate the consumption and inventory editing pages. They are painfully distinct right now. FIT AND FINISH - When adding inventory the checkboxes behave a little bit more intelligently on page refreshes. Actually, now I deselect them in non-error cases, because it seemed glitchey. Folks may feel differently.
- The new control for adding a storage location from the purchase page did not properly support disabling. Now it does.
- I now show the Rose icon in a few more cases.
OUTSIDE THE BOX OK, it's official. CellarTracker! LLC now exists as a formal entity. It has a bank account. Soon I will even make it so folks can contribute to this if they want. Not yet...
