I thought there was already a thread but couldn’t find one besides Midnight in Paris.

Anyway, I was watching an episode of the Lincoln Lawyer, and one of the characters opens a Screaming Eagle (couldn’t catch the vintage). That was ballsy but realistic for the character.

In Rocketman (the Elton John biopic) at a party at Mama Cass' house he is offered a 1963 Dom Perignon, with the comment that it was an excellent vintage. In fact, Dom Perignon didn't produce a 1963 vintage wine, so that was a goof, but the character recommending it was a bit of a charlatan anyway, so it was sort of in character.

Does anyone else yell at the screen when a character picks up a wine glass by the bowl???

Every character does it the same way every time and it drives me batty!

It doesn't bother me any longer. It just tells me who is an amateur and who is a pro like us.

Obviously, Sideways has a number of wine cameos. But I guess that would be expected.

Like Ozric, I tend to yelp at every mishandling of a wine glass, on the big screen and small.

In From Russia with Love, the Russian double agent played by Robert Shaw pulls a gun on James Bond (the real one, Sean Connery). Bond, recalling their earlier dinner, says red wine with fish, I should have known.

There were several other wine moments in Bond movies: DP in Goldfinger, Angelus in Casino Royale. Others I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Here's an obscure one: in season 1 episode 5 of Ghosts (the original British one), the protagonists invite their older neighbors over for dinner. The husband excitedly responds, "I'll bring a Pelaverga!"

Here's the older thread you might be thinking of: https://www.cellartracker.com/forum/tm.asp?m=118502&mpage=1&key=name%2Cmovie%2Cshow𜻦

I'll add to both threads, in the Sopranos, bottles of Ruffino Chianti (if memory serves; I feel 90+% confident) show up a lot, everywhere wine is consumed -- their house, Vesuvio's, the back room at Satriale's....

And I recall that Tony came into a large supply of Pichon Lalande.

Mr Google says "pela verga" means "peel dick" in Spanish! But by default it says it is Portuguese for "by the lintel".

And for the single word "pelaverga" it says it is Greek for "damn".

Hopscotch with Matthau, Glenda Jackson, Beatty, Watterston, and Herbert Lom.
A silly 1970s-ish classic with parallels to Opera Buffa (and a score to match).
There are a couple of cute wine scenes with Glenda Jackson.

Don't forget Fawlty Towers restaurant inspector episode with "corked wine." The label may be readable by some viewers?

Currently binge watching the series Blacklist. Several references in prior seasons, usually Top Shelf stuff. Recent episode referenced Chateau d'Yquem, though vintage wasn't mentioned.

One of the things I notice during Dry January is how many scenes in movies and TV include drinking. They usually don’t show the particular wine or other stuff, but it adds a little more longing during this long month! Still going strong, though!

In "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" (terrible movie, btw), they were guzzling Haut Brion; don't recall the vintage.

Star Trek-Next Generation when Picard returns to Earth after his encounter with the Borg and goes to visit his estranged brother on the family vineyard in France. The bottle discussed is the ‘47 Picard, but fails to mention which century. Funny thing tho, still harvesting grapes by hand and bottling wine in glass in the 24th Century.

Tom Gun. Charles Krug. Likely chardonnay but the bottle looks like a Riesling bottle to me. Tom Cruise and Kelly McGillis drinking it over an early dinner on the patio.

Funny thing, still harvesting grapes at all. Surely by then we either got off wine, it was banned, or we found a way to make a superiour product in industrial quantity in a lab, not trotting along with things grown in dirty soil.
