Star Trek-Next Generation when Picard returns to Earth after his encounter with the Borg and goes to visit his estranged brother on the family vineyard in France. The bottle discussed is the ‘47 Picard, but fails to mention which century. Funny thing tho, still harvesting grapes by hand and bottling wine in glass in the 24th Century.

The Picard series is set in his family vineyard and you can buy Picard wine, the earliest being dated as a 2221. As a FYI I checked and there doesn't seem to be any in CT...

Servant on apple+ has an impressive wine list along with some gaffs such as opening aged bottles with a standard wine key that would probably explode the cork as well as poor stem choices and holding the glass by the bowl. Here is a link to a WS article (not behind the paywall) that explains how they bought empty bottles on eBay and faked the labels for other bottles. https://www.winespectator.com/articles/inside-servant-s-haunting-wine-cellar.

In Babylon, Berlin, the Nazi plotters blow up a Jewish Judge. He is just describing his wine, either Margaux or Cheval Blanc, when his daughter triggers the bomb while playing under the table. I guess I could pin down wine and vintage by revisiting the scene (on Netflix)

The intent of my original post was about specific wines making cameos. Sorry I wasn’t more clear. 🤦‍♂️

Recently watched movie called “The Menu” with Ralph Fiennes, which is about an uber exclusive dining experience. They make a point of calling out the burgundy specifically:

“2014 Caroline Morey Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru”. . Quote: “Not just a single vineyard but a single row of vines”

This accompanies the entree of scallops, barely frozen filtered sea water and island foraged greens

And also mention a 2013 Ross Cobb pinot noir later on, which accompanied the third course. They talk about hyper decanting and “barnyard funk”, which is a phrase I’ve never heard outside of wine circles

NOW ITS MONTRACHET TIME!

https://youtu.be/IfntYWlFEXQ

My favorite Bond wine moment:

Other than the Sherry, there’s only one other wine scene but it’s a great one like the one in “From Russia With Love.” Minutes before the end of the movie, Bond and Tiffany Case (Jill St. John) are on a cruise ship when two assassins disguised as waiters arrive in their cabin with a surprise, gourmet meal, including a bottle of 1955 Mouton Rothschild, one of the world’s greatest wines from France’s Bordeaux region. “I expected a Claret,” Bond says. One of the waiters explains that the ship is low on Claret. “Mouton Rothschild is a Claret,” Bond replies. Claret is the word Brits use for Bordeaux. And with that, a fight ensues on the ship between Bond and the two assassins. Guess who wins?

In tonight's episode of The Last Of Us, one of the characters has free pick of anything in a Wine and Spirits store after the apocalypse. He picks up a case of Caymus.

20 years later he opens a 20+ year old bottle of Beaujolais Villages. In his defense, there has been no wine made in 20 years, so it's better than nothing.

In Casino Royale (2006), James Bond (Daniel Craig) and Vesper Lynd (Eva Green) are on their way in a high speed train to Montenegro for the poker game at Casino Royale, when they get to know each other better during a dinner in the train. Both Bond and Vesper drink a 1982 Château Angélus Premier Grand Cru Classé.

In The Spy Who Loved Me, Bond and the heroine share a bottle of 1952 Dom Perignon. Bond exclaims, I miss-judged Stromberg.

53 Bollinger. Which movie? He is floating in an escape module with heroine.

Just watched The Spy Who Loved Me again. It was 1952 Dom Perignon. Bond declared Bollinger to be his favorite in other films.

Another image from “Bottle Shock” (2008), where the Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon label is quite visible. The vintage isn't clear, but obviously 197_.

Given the setting of the film, I'd say it is either 1970 or 1971.

According to MC2Wines’ tasting note, it was the 1971. CT Avg Score is 92.8. Well done!

Live From Daryl's House in the episode with Train, they have a wine tasting with wines from Foxglove, Larkmead, Jordan, Ramey, ZD, and Three Saints. Then at dinner there is clearly a bottle of Hundred Acre on the table. https://www.livefromdarylshouse.com/currentep.html?ep_id=46

Great scene in Midsomer Murders: S17:E4 (A vintage murder). Slug pellets poison the guests at the launch of a new premium British sparkling white.

I can think of no better (or worse!) depiction of a wine snob than in this episode from the British TV series “Tales of the Unexpected”, titled ‘Taste’ (1980). In it, the actor Ron Moody plays his role to the hilt. He is a particularly icky, smug, over the top, cringe worthy, so-called connoisseur. Classic!

FYI, here are a couple of short clips from it. If you can find the whole 30-minute show, do treat yourself.

Some great wine-themed moments over the years in Succession.

Space cadet Greg opened a bottle of 1996 Pingus: https://vinepair.com/booze-news/succession-season-3-premiere-wine/

And Tom's got some good wine references, especially about his "agricultural" spatburgunder: https://www.wineenthusiast.com/culture/wine/succession-tom-wambsgans-wine/

Norwegian TV Drama. Varg Veum, Sleeping Beauty episode, bottle of Masi Amarone Costasera used to hit mother over the head with contents spilling over her body. A bizarre storyline with one of the biggest plot fails I've seen. In any event, the hero Varg has Chateau Latour handy to lure a date.

Nice one! I doubt the ‘86 HB would have been available at the time of filming. Any other good vintages before ‘86? Back then, it would have cost $50?
