You have been unlucky this year. That said, I am very glad I do not have to play you in Round 1 of the playoffs!

I just realized the Thursday night game is New England vs. Pittsburgh. Ouch. 3-0, but for whom? The under is .... 30.5? WHAT!!!! When was the last time the Patriots scored 15 or more?

Elliot up the middle.... for 2. Second and 8. Hicks desperately trying to sound interested.....

Sherm, Whit, Tony, and Fitz deserve better.

Edit: 31 points by half-time! Feeling humbled, but fortunately no poorer.....

Week 14 - I gave serious thought to picking up Joe Flacco, but I didn't do it. I should have...he is up to 22.40 so far....with about 9 minutes left in the game.

Congrats. You and Barbilocks.....11th and 12th place teams are the class of the league this week. Should be a good fight for that last bottle!

Congratulations on a great week, Chris! I really ran into a buzzsaw with you! of course, my team couldn't punch its way out of a wet paper bag right now ... ...

I was so excited to get Justin Jefferson back this week, after a 7.5 game layoff. I got him for about one quarter, and now outski. And this is on the heels of Christian Kirk now being done for the season. Meanwhile, Rashee Rice apparently only needed to be dropped from my team to suddenly turn into the player I wished him to be throughout the entire first half+ of the season. In one of my good moves this season, I managed to cover for the Rashee debacle by nabbing Christian Watson off the Waiver Wire, but now his hammy is no bueno right now, and I'm not sure if/when we'll see him play again this season.

If there is any theme to my season this year it's this: If a guy can get injured, and he's on my roster, he will. This has been, by far, the worst injury luck I've had in nearly two decades of fantasy football. Hopefully I'm getting it all out of the way this year!

I thought that I had a great chance to win this week vs BuzzKills, but the fantasy gods decided otherwise. 3 friggin' points from my QB and now he's questionable with an Excedrin headache...not to mention Wilson on BuzzKills team having his game of the year

It's looking like I'll be one and done in the playoffs

After reading your post about Jefferson, Kirk and the others, I have no room for complaints. This has been a tough season for many of us, but still a lot of fun

100%!!! We all know going in that Luck is going to play a big role in how things shake-out. And to know my buy-in will be going to a fellow CT'er really makes losing not feel bad. ... I'm just super competitive, and am prone to complaining (despite efforts to abstain) when luck doesn't go my way. Part of me feels like the b1tching is part and parcel of fantasy sports.

I agree! Complaining IS a big part of Fantasy Football for sure...how dare those players get injured or play badly???? ...don't they care about us??? HA-ha-ha! Nope - they just want to win their own Football games...and Fantasy leagues.

I'm glad we did this. Now half the league doesn't have to sit around and just twiddle their thumbs.

Now that the playoffs are set, here's a quick review of each team in order of finish. I wanted to review the playoff contenders by original draft order, their Yahoo draft grade, and review their first 2 picks in the draft...

01. Perfect Turn, drafted 11th, grade D-, AJ Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown
02. Fiat Lux, drafted 12th, grade D, Bijan Robinson, Patrick Mahomes
03. Confucius CT, drafted 8th, grade D+, CeeDee Lamb, Jaylen Waddle
04. Seattle Slew, drafted 4th, grade B+, Tyreek Hill, Derrick Henry
05. Mountain Madness, drafted 7th, grade C, Travis Kelce, Josh Jacobs
06. Cerrano Voodo Gods, drafted 3rd, grade A+, Christian McCaffrey, Davante Adams
07. BuzzKills, drafted 6th, grade F, Austin Ekeler, Garrett Wilson
08. Exit 105, drafted 9th, grade A+, Stefon Diggs, Saquon Barkley
09. Chateau Haut-BRRRion, drafted 2nd, grade A-, Ja'Marr Chase, Josh Allen
10. Make it Hurts so Good, drafted 1st, grade D, Justin Jefferson, Travis Etienne
11. Karen's Team, drafted 10th, grade C+, Nick Chubb, Tony Pollard
12. Barbilocks, drafted 5th, grade B-, Cooper Kupp, Jalen Hurts

Thanks for doing that, Mike. It shows that regardless of the Yahoo rating, anyone can get to the playoffs, even me

Interesting that the two teams with a bye received D and D- grades for our draft. Maybe the grader from Yahoo is the one who should get the "D-".

Certainly I made some stinker picks in the draft (Darren Waller, Dameon Pierce, Wash. defense), fwiw.

Super interesting!

1. queue'd Stefon Diggs, but pressed CD Lamb by accident and kicked myself..
turns out. CD is 2nd in total pts for WR.. Stefon by no means a slouch at 8th among WRs

2. Tyreek and McCaf tho.. ooooo lordieeee..

3. CVG got A+.. i dont disagree, he's got a monster roster.. Oh and happen to be my opponent for playoffs this week.
meanwhile, the QB i'd like to start is still on teh practice squad.. <sigh>

That is interesting! A common theme quickly emerges: the bottom six teams each saw at least one of their top two picks miss multiple games due to injury.

I knew on draft day CVG would have a monster of a team if Adams and McCaffrey stayed healthy. Well, they have. Plus that Nico Collins pick has been pure gold, and CVG has made some wise in-season moves, too. Quite frankly, a job extremely well-done across the board!

as for Draft Grades: they always have been, and always will be, largely a joke. Our league is filled with pretty knowledgeable people --- we'd all be well-advised to not place much credence in Yahoo's projected values, and use our noodles instead.

I'd also like to add that there was discussion early on about the "best" slot for draft order, and whether it was an advantage or disadvantage to draft early, middle, or late. Looking at the standings, I don't think there's much correlation, probably because as you mentioned, so much depends on injury luck.

Agree...and it's a lot more convoluted than that. Some people don't draft well, but are really good at getting good players off of the waiver wire, and that cannot be shown here. In addition, we are only looking at the top 2 picks, when some late round players are doing quite well.

I think the only way to gauge the success of the draft is to perform a post-mortem, comparing how well the drafted players performed over the season.

The yahoo draft grades are fun to review, but completely useless. How did BuzzKills get an "F" when he auto-drafted?

I did NOT have a good start for the playoffs. Josh Jacobs, my RB, was declared OUT before the game. I heard that Allen was OUT and Palmer was coming back, so I picked up Palmer. I didn't play him because it was his first week back in a long time and the QB, Stick, was starting his first NFL game against the Raiders. I figured that Mad Maxx Crosby would ruin Stick's day and Palmer would get little to nothing.

I was half right. Palmer got 21.3 on my bench. Ugh

Good luck to you playoff teams! In order to participate next year, I'd like to have a post-season discussion of any changes we all collectively would like to see made. I have a couple, nothing too major, but think an open discussion here would be a good idea and then, if the Commissioner is up for it, we vote on them and see what the majority thinks.

Yeah....what mye said. Good time to bring it up, Brandon.

Just post your suggestions for changes here and I'll try to keep track of them.

So far, I think the only one I have is from Hank, to limit the number of players of any given position that we can have.

HankJ: "We should have a caps at three quarterbacks, five running backs, maybe six receivers"...and a partridge in a pear tree (couldn't resist )

Generally agree with the convo re draft position and early pick, but wil.push back just a little:

Even if our season's anecdotes don't show correlation between preferred draft slots and importance of early picks, those things are likely still important. It's agame of margins - levering as many low probability judgement calls as you can and hoping some of them hit. The best players give themselves more opportunities at better outcomes, and then just enough pan out

I mean everyone scores a ton of points in a season, the winners might have been lucky but they also might have been right one extra time.

The draft grades though are weak, and for the same dynamic I describe above - it's not a gane of the most right but rather the least wrong. So any early player rankings are going to inherently be all over the place
..
