Just bought some grapes at the store. Tasked the elves with stomping them and dealing with the rest of it. It seems like it's slow going; it turns out elves don't weigh very much.

Santas sleigh full of wine bottles looks amazing! Aside from the Boones Farm, there's only one bottle I wouldn't want to drink on Christmas night. Good job Santas! I'd like to start sleuthing but the package I received went straight into the cellar where it's cold and dark. The return address didn't help at all.

I must be drinking too much. Or not enough.

Dec 1 is a Friday, yet our HEIC says it is Monday. Is our deadline Monday, Dec 4? Or Friday, Dec 1?

Should my panic be mild or severe?

Woe Unto Me!

I just checked the calendar. Reveal Day coincides with this year's Christmas Cookie Bake with TW and the nieces. This is a tradition going back to when the girls were barely more than toddlers, so I interfere with it at my own peril.

The problem is this: They take over MY kitchen and blare things like Back Street Boys and Brittany Spears. Everything guaranteed to destroy what little sanity I may still possess, so I am exiled from my own home for the duration.

Either I cheat and open early, or I must delay opening until that evening.

You need to build yourself a man cave like I did in my backyard. My own private Idaho.

Oops, my bad on the misreading of the Jolly Calendar...

Shipping Deadline: Monday, 12/4/23

Reveal Day: Saturday, 12/16/23

Shipping is perking right along, so good job folks. A few packages have landed. The people who haven't shipped please get on it so we can sort out any (normal) snafu's that might occur around the Brown or Purple trucks of the world.

Cheers!

Homemade wine didn't pan out (had to fire the elves). Now I'm chagrined to discover that Boone's has retired their "Tickle Pink" flavor.

Back to the drawing board.

I didn't get a heads up from my Head Elf that the package was on its way. So when this unexpected and mysterious box arrived at the house a few days ago my first reaction was to open it. When I cut the tape (I'll say more on this unique tape in the reveal day thread) and lifted one of the flaps I saw styrofoam packaging inside. The bells in my head started ringing and I stopped myself from going further. Glad I didn't spoil the surprise for myself and my SS. Patiently waiting now.....

Funny, I had a package arrive yesterday that my Wife said she had to sign for and I didn’t know who it was from. I though SS? But ut was far too heavy so I opened it. Halcon Estate.

A career as an analyst has its drawbacks. One of them being an inability to not constantly assess data. One sees it and is compelled to see what can be gleaned from it.

There are 24 listed participants in this year's SS campaign.

There are 24 wines in Santa's cellar, two of which - the Boone's Farm selections - are clearly Santa's Private Stock. That leaves 22 bottles in transit or delivered (I have not yet made a count of confirmed deliveries in the thread) as of this morning.

That means two are yet to be shipped or added to Santa's cellar.

Honestly - and the elves would have to check me on this, I think this may be one of the better years for participants getting things done well before the last shipping date! For all those early folks, "Good On Ya!" as the Aussies might say.

I will neither confirm nor deny whether I am one of the remaining two (*cough* life-long procrastinator *cough*).

Close on counts since it is not uncommon for a Santa to ship more than one bottle, but yes, a good chunk met the pseudo-Friday ship deadline, and I'm relatively confident most will have a wine to open on reveal day.

Wait, what? I'm getting MULTIPLE BOTTLES?! Woo-hoo!

What's that? Like Charlie Brown on Halloween, I'm getting a rock?

Sounds legit. I mean, it fits the pattern.

On a separate mental note, I ponder how much 'olive oil' or 'balsamic vinegar' UPS and FedEx ship around the holidays?

I panicked when the fed ex guy asked what was in the box and said “it’s a lava lamp”, he grabbed a scissor and was going to tear in to check the quality of my wrapping job and I barely stopped him from finding out what it was.

This claims they started in 1965, but my memories are from early 1970's Christmas at my Grandma's house. They were magic!

Know we're not supposed to give the game away like this, but the bottle you didn't want is the one I just sent you. Cheers!

Santa's big brown sleigh dropped me off a single bottle box this week, that looks like it was sent direct from a retailer/winery so even without opening it, my prediction is I will never be able to correctly guess my Secret Santa. So congrats to whomever that is…You win.

Go to the main CT site. Click on "Members" on the menu across the top, put "CT Santa" in the search field, and GO!

That will take you to Santa's user profile. Click on "Wine in Cellar"

I feel like clues are being dropped but I'm not sharp enough to catch them. I guess I'll stick to beer until the reveal day when I'll have a better idea of what wine I'm holding. Until then, it sits in the box unknown.

Santa's private stock!?! Wait, so you're saying it's not possible for me to get one of those bottles of Boone's Farm? Devastated is the word. I was so hoping to get a bottle after watching this review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPz5o9gnpXU
