We are in the home stretch for 2023 so figured I could look back at how I did.

Purchases 118
Consumption ~155

Still above cellar capacity so I might drop one club shipment. Overall not bad....I felt like I kept my purchasing in check overall.

Purchased 134
Consumed 155

Shows I’m serious about making my cellar smaller! 🤪

Not too bad. This year I would like to see something closer to even - maybe 144 purchased and consumed. Although my new cellar is almost complete and I'll have space for an additional ~ 600 bottles over my current maxed out capacity, I don't want to go crazy and use it all up right away.

2023 Purchased - 215
2023 Consumed - 318

Does this make me naughty or nice?

Merry Christmas 🎄 to all…

91 purchased
161 consumed including many gifts and cellar reconciliation
BOTH all-time lows for us
Plus another 100+ bottles sold.
Cellar count is definitely in reduction mode

Stupid stupid game!

Purchased: 524, plus about 120 more pending (I don't typically add wines until they are in my possession). Also bottled about 75 home brew from 2020 vintage yesterday.
Consumed: 183 plus miscellaneous home brew not tracked.

Added about net 500 or so to my Cellar in last half of this year to celebrate being alive.

Hell ya, that's how you do it. I would do the same if I went through what you went through.

89 in, 140 out. Lower consumption and drastically lower purchasing, lower than at any point since I started collecting.

Drank 29 more than I consumed so far, so cellar shrinking as intended. Perhaps a bit more in 2024.

CranBurgundy will have to rule on the naughty or nice. That's beyond my pay grade.

This year for me was also my lowest # of purchases since I started CT, circa 2008

160 purchased, 141 consumed. This is a useful exercise! I need to buy less in 2024…

purchases 164
consumed 295

Purchases pretty much stopped after the first quarter of the year as we began the transition to Maine. now that we are in Maine we (I) am purchasing at a pretty steady rate to replace what we currently consume. once we purchase the permanent residence this spring purchasing will go back up to increase the cellar backup to more appropriate levels.

Somewhat down on the last couple of years because Sabrina spent a large part of the year on the wagon whilst preparing to climb Kilimanjaro (and Kinabalu, and Everest Base Camp, and Touklab)! And also of course because with the hysteria largely over there was much more drinking in bars and restaurants rather than from my "cellar".

Since starting with CT exactly 17 years ago, by this metric, I have *always* been naughty.

Put me in the naughty column: purchased 274, consumed 179. Definitely need to scale back on the impulse buys in 2024!

You know, your quoting me made take another look. Upon closer inspection, I suck at math. I’ve been at this for 16 years, as well.

It seems many of us CT board old timers joined around the same time. I was caught off-guard when Hollow indicated he’d been on CT a year less than me because that didn’t feel right; then I saw my math error. Crazy how time has gone by …

Reduced my cellar size by over 100, not sure whether that is naughty or nice either. But it is what I intended.

Purchased - 352 (plus a further 57 to come en primeur)
Consumed - 86

(Good reason for the low consumption level, which probably accounts for the high purchases too - The first four months of the year saw me recovering from Chemo and Radiotherapy for tongue cancer, with a total lack of taste buds at that time, which gradually came back, as did the consumption as we neared the Christmas period).

Belated Merry Xmas, and an Early Happy New Year to all fellow winos -

Hugs from Dubs...
