Its 20 degrees in Atlanta today with a dusting of snow on the ground.  I'm thinking something big and bold.  Either a Barolo or a Cali Cab...

It is going to be below freezing on the island tonight. I am thinking Cali or Aussie for the antifreeze

The bottle of '99 Beringer Alluvium I opened last night was less than stellar, pretty much past prime. Think I need something to get the taste out of my mouth, maybe a Spring Valley Uriah or something else local.

Geez TX, GA and FL - stop whining about the cold weather already.  You get this for what - a week or two?  That being said, it's frozen here (and will be for the next few months ) and I think something "southern hemisphere" is definitely in order.  Top candidates are:

2002 Cheval des Andes   or
2005 Kilikanoon Parable or
2002 Bilton Shiraz

or maybe all 3

Sushi or cooked Japanese tonight at a BYO.  Pinot sounds like a good option as I don't feel in the mood for a white tonight.  Might be opening up something young tonight, but who knows...  -mJ

Mid 60s and sunny today. Maybe a nice white or rose on the patio?

Probably nothing too fancy tonight...

We'll open a couple of nice bottles tomorrow, though, as we spend time with a good friend whose girlfriend is in town from halfway around the world.  Gotta think of something delicious to make for dinner which will go with one of my better reds...I'm thinking maybe a 2000 Lone Madrone Cab and/or a 2001 Zenato Amarone.  Or maybe one of our miscellaneous recent releases from Tolo.  Or...something else.

Decisions, decisions!

You suck. Bad enough you live in and around several great wine growing regions, but you have to rub it in with the temperature?

We are going to bundle up and walk the three blocks to l'Oca (site of the Philly CT dinner!).  I think a '97 Brunello is on order.

I have a lot of junk in the cellar that needs to be consumed to make room for the Garagiste arrivals which I will need to sample.  Also as Jack LeLane once said, "the secret to losing weight is never eat any thing that tastes good!"

Leaning towards an '03 Vilafonte M with meatloaf and truffled mashed. Maybe some 20 year Tawny for dessert and to warm my bones after dinner.

Headed out to Lake Hickory CC for dinner in just a bit with good CT wine buddy neighborbill and spouses, I'm bringing an '05 Michael David Rapture given to me by our mutual CT wine buddy sidboy, not sure what Bill and Debbie will be bringing but I'm sure it will be something appropriately bland yet tasteless....

NY strip and rib eyes with 2000 Les Gartieux de Pichon Lalande. The steaks and wine never disappoint.

I was going to buy some wine because left work too late to pull something from the wine fridge, unless I wanted cold wine.  But on the way out of work I got talked into grabbing a beer (Guinness).  I had one beer and when I got home, I opened some cheaper wine I had that was at already had at room temperature.  I ended up with Chateau Roquefort Bordeaux 2005, Potato and Leek Soup, and Flank Steak.

Had some Flannery Private Reserve Ribeye Steaks with the 06 Spottswoode Estate Cab. Yes, the wine is young but still very delicious. Not as good as the 05 but still pretty nice.

Had a 99 Barolo last night, its a Fat Tire (beer) with dinner tonight. Have a hard time popping something open after a memorable bottle.

What's the story on these Flannery steaks? Keep seeing them mentioned.

Tonight we're trying a place that I have been dying to hit, and still haven't figured out what we're gonna bring.  It's Italian, with a bit of Asian influence.  Should be interesting, and their menu looks great.  As many things as there are to try, and as much as I want to try their homemade pasta, the wagyu burger with truffles sounds like heaven.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.  May bring a big cab, but might also bring a bottle of pinot as a backup and I never know what we'll order.  I'm guessing my gorgeous bride is going to have a chicken dish, or perhaps salmon.  Too many options!  -mJ

I think I will sample a Brown Brothers Sangiovese 2004. Not expecting much for the price, but the very idea of non-Italian sangiovese just interests me for some reason........

Having burgers on the grill, regardless of weather. I am thinking Zin or an Aussie.

Visiting a friend in Colorado, so I think we will be drinking a DR Stephens Cabernet 2005 vintage and maybe an A.P. Vin Gary's Vineyard Pinot 2005 vintage.

that is the million dollar question, isn't it ... will be staying with a good friend in San Fran tonight, and he appreciates fine wine, thus affording me the rare opportunity to open something nice and have it actually be enjoyed. still thinking about what that bottle (or two) will be ...

Lamb Chops and Mondavi 97 Cab

Let us know how it is.  I had a 97 Mondavi Reserve a year ago and thought it was past its prime.
