2006 Oddero Barolo. For the price I paid it was very good and smooth. I think I paid $30 or so for it.

This morning I stood up a bottle of 2009 Chateau Talbot.
We'll see tonight if that's what I open for dinner,
or a 2010 Merryvale Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley.

There's a couple of NY strips in the fridge to go with tonight's wine.

How was the Oddero, Rick? Sounds like a decent price...

We are finishing a daily drinker Carmenere' tonight and tomorrow. Planning rather nice juice for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, though.

Cheers!

We are definitely drinking our CT SS gift tonight:

2013 Weingut Robert Weil Kiedricher Gräfenberg Riesling Spätlese

Not sure which Italian wine though - either of these:

2007 Il Marroneto Brunello di Montalcino Madonna delle Grazie
2010 Fattoria di Felsina Fontalloro

Then I have to figure out a dessert wine to bring with Jewish apple cake.

I take it you're in Delray Beach.

30F on the way to 15 here. Santa brought me a bottle of Laphroaig, and I'm making a dent in it.

New Years eve celebration tonight at my mother's senior citizen home. Will be big band music with Woodbridge and Bud Light as the choices. Good news is driving home will not be an issue. Seriouslty though, it will be a great night. Evening ends at 8pm so we can save a cocktail for when we get home.

A very nice idea, indeed. I remember when my aunt and uncle, who lived in a similar situation, were named King and Queen of the "Senior Prom" at age 70+. Very touching photo.

As for us, nearly there but not yet senior, we will be at home, maybe watching "The Avengers" which is on TV (second viewing for us). Wine that's open and available is Stone Cottage Cellars, 2015, Gewurztraminer, West Elks. Enjoyable but not really a varietally correct Gewurz. Spice is very subtle, floral and white-fruit dominant. But it was a gift wine and is certainly good enough.

New Year's Eve Eve Cheers!

Kids are going out to dinner tonight so just my wife and I so that means the "good stuff" comes out. It was between two wines and the 2012 Kobalt Cabernet Sauvignon is going to be saved for another day. Tonight we will drink:

2006 Araujo Eisele Syrah

Down to only one bottle of this which makes me nervous. This will be one of the first wines I reload on when I get a new job. I need to add some 2009 & 2010 also. A couple of small filet mignon, heirloom tomatoes and Caesar salad will accompany the wine.

Happy New Year !!

It's a "make sure it's OK" night.
Yesterday I got 2 cases from Acker Auction from last year - a 1997 Paloma merlot and a 2005 Shelter red blend "50-50." Both are now open and both are excellent!
It will be one of those nights.
Love it when it goes this way.
