Found this a muddled, fruitless mess. Opened second bottle thinking the first was flawed, but it was the same.

8/19/2018 4:16:00 PM - Yes, I decanted the first bottle and tried it over several hours before pouring it down the drain. I chilled the second bottle and tried it the next night. The nose gave off some restrained but pleasant coffee aromas, but it was still completely disjointed for me on the palate. Drained it too. Disappointing. I have one left I will hold in case this thing is just in complete shut down mode.

Beautiful nose. Needs plenty of time to open to reveal the character and depth within. Tannins too prevalent for my sensibilities, as suspected, so have patience. Had to try but will wait at least 2 years until next bottle. Be advised though, my cork showed major creepage. Wait, watch, and hope...is there a more active collecting strategy, please?

Beautiful bottle. Full, expressive balance of aromas, feel, and flavors. Magnificent.

3/26/2015 8:40:00 AM - Hank, I think it depends on how you have stored the wine. If you read my first tasting note in Sept. 2014, you will see the atypical storage history for this wine. So, part of me thinks the wine is drinking well because it was forced to mature more quickly. If you have properly stored the wine then I would hold (note only a third in the community have been opened yet.) If you have not, then go for it. It needs decanting and about 1 hour of air time. Good luck and let me know! W

Voluptuous wine from the start. A mouthful of strawberry jam that eventually gives way to a solid backbone of complex fruits and spice with a faint and coy, fresh-ground-coffee-in-the-grocery-aisle surprise hidden in the mix somewhere. (Maybe it was the sediment bits in my teeth, but then again I antagonize most of my wine in my decanter since--with three under three--I fight for wine time). Anyway, I fought hard indeed trying to wrestle with the wine's predominant nose and flavors. In total I get a vanilla bourbon strawberry compote that fills and coats the mouth in a hugely pleasing way. Highly recommended if you like IHOP and SEC football.

8/8/2014 6:08:00 PM - Tonight I opened the first bottle since my original review. I stand by my initial thoughts although I am having a slightly different experience since I pulled the bottle from the cool cellar vs. enjoying the first bottle at room temp. The most prevalent difference is a heightened sweetness that I'm tasting, which reminds me of a cherry Charms Blow-Pop. Going to let the wine warm a bit before I continue, but continue to be a fan.
