2016 Cliff Lede High Fidelity

Napa Valley Red Bordeaux Blend more

Blue and black fruit is complicated by notes of wild herbs, black tea and underbrush. Elegant and linear. I like the texture, but it seems to be lacking some depth compared to its peers at that price point. Enjoyable.

White Rhone Blend more

2/25/2022 - Callum's Corkers Likes this wine: 93 points

Bought House of Townend, UK. £60.00 Jan 2022

Decanted in fridge half hr at least

Label detail: 'Famille Brunier' on the front; La Crau was mentioned on the back.

N....interesting and seductive summer breeze (South of France) of dry brown herbs; an apricot and peach orchard somewhere up-wind; roasted almonds (skin on); touch of salt; yellow apple skin. Gorgeous.

C...oddly advanced gold, for a 5 yr old Rhone white with a rep' for longevity.

T....solid medium-bodied; a lovely core and essence of flavours; something of the 'old fashioned' style about it, 'agreeably eccentric' even?; some wood; some earthy dusty summer field/pebbles impression; near-dry in style rather than properly dry; summer's day thyme; a touch of marzipan with lemon drizzle; alc is obvious but seems in balance; well short of mature; big long flavours but a touch of elegance and restraint too; the back label says there is a "freshness" - well, not for me, there's acid, sure, but ''freshness''?, couldn't find it anywhere; a nice citrus lilt at the end, almost a star anise impression; again, the back label talks about ''depth'' - alright, there's plenty of depth. Big bold wine that whacks you, but with some elegance too. Classic stand-off: put this up agin' the Ch Beaucastel.

VFM?....cost £60.00, feels worth that. Clearly going to get better in the cellar.

A wonderful expression of a Grenache based CdP with notes of red fruit, underbrush, graphite and Mediterranean spice. Good depth and texture. The aromatics are pleasing. This is drinking nicely today and I see no reason to delay consumption. Good juice.

The greatest young wine I've ever tasted. Was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype, but was absolutely singing after a quick 1 hour decant. Violets, perfume, Cuban cigar and asphalt...and a finish that sailed on for a full minute. Wow!

3/3/2018 2:41:00 PM - Thanks for that information! I am fortunate to have been on the Bedrock and Carlisle allocation list since the 2012 vintage. I have all the Exposition wines in the cellar. I was worried about the hype as well, but Morgan Twain Peterson is a superstar in the making! He just doesn't get all the pub like the winemakers in Napa.

    Thanks for being a fan!

2014 Bedrock Wine Co. Heritage Wine Pagani Ranch

Sonoma Valley Zinfandel Blend, Zinfandel more

Decanted 2 hours before getting started. This is my first vineyard designate bottle I've opened from Bedrock as I just started buying from them last year. At first I was getting too much alcohol coming through (something I've found common in zinfandel based wines, but not something I enjoy). After a while that got better. Like others have said, flavors of raspberry and spice, and I definitely got a green note in there as well. All in all it was a nice wine, and I'm hoping that more age helps it integrate a little better. From this tasting, I would not consider this great QPR, but I know it is still very young and I need to give it more time before passing too much judgement.

11/11/2016 2:45:00 PM - I have been enjoying Bedrock wines for the last two years. Most of the heritage wines definitely need two to five years sometime to come together. I recommend putting the 2014's away until at least mid 2018 to identify how they will begin to evolve. They have a great thing going on at Bedrock! Don't give up on them just yet.
