Trying Brut with 4g dosage, the most balanced one, slim, reluctant but "lusher" than the EB., base 2014 . 92

Extra Brut (Zero Dosage), base 2014, feels drier than the brut but in the same at this stage less balanced and round. Great salinity. 91

Cuvee de Goulte 2014. Lovely. Blindly you would guess BdB than BdN. For a Ambonnay superb fine and refreshing. Chalky and precise finish. 93-94

8/27/2018 - SLIMES Does not like this wine: NR

From magnum purchased through Lay and Wheeler.

I found this wine to be a bit 'hollowed out'. It didn't have much fruit even though the colour suggested a relatively youthful wine. It was drinkable, but there was a sharp sulphur/bitterness on the end that was off-putting. Unless you get this very cheaply, I'd pass.

first off - this bottle had the weirdest sediment I have ever seen.. there was particulate matter suspended in the wine that didn't settle to the bottom. Had my other unopened bottle not also had it, I wouldn't have consumed it, it was so off-putting visually. I screened it out, which caught the larger bits, then consumed. Curious if anyone else experienced this.

high toned red fruit, some earth and little tobacco. Somewhat simple, but light, quaffable and very food friendly.

2/14/2017 12:38:00 AM - Hello! Was just reading your note and I experienced the same thing with a bottle of the 2013. Other bottles didn't have it so thought it was unique to the bottle I drank, guess not. Super weird, I should probably research what it is...

7/30/2018 11:52:00 AM - i just saw this review and YES i experienced the exact same thing with all my 2013s. I tested a bottle from each of the 3 cases i had and the same. As you say if use a tea strainer it should catch all the sediment. visually off putting but not harmful to the wine.

7/30/2018 3:01:00 PM - We served the 13s at our wedding near Lucca in Tuscany. We bought a whole bunch at a wine shop near there. The 14s and 15s were fine. Also we had a 13 at a restaurant in london b4 the wedding and it was fine.

Still very light yellow colour with an indulging and lovely nose showing gunpowder, seashells and nuts that makes you happy. Wonderful palate with a combination of youthfulness and incipient maturity that feels very intriguing. This is still very fresh and driven by the minerality of the vintage. Especially the long lasting and fresh lime acidic finish is very nice. Compared with last year it felt more mature and with a longer lasting palate. Very good right now, and ready to drink. But will keep for decades longer if necessary...
